A place where you put your pool when it has been bad.

Just saw the weather channel. Hoping the southern manatees aren't anywhere near the tornados. Stay safe, all.

We had some bad stuff about 25 miles from us. A co-worker lost a pool cage and his neighborhood looks Charley-esque. I hope the NC and Virginia folks are ok, I've heard of some bad there as well.

Tornado action and some fatalities in VA, but not my neck of the woods. I did see some pretty impressive hail, and the water level got alarmingly close to the back door. Vivaldi was less than thrilled about having to use the puppy pads for the night, but other than that all okay here!

NC/VA Podmates - PLEASE CHECK IN!!

All good in Raleigh, NC. Some rough weather for a while with tornado warnings, but the worst of the storm split and was both north and south of the city itself.

Connor - Glad that you got the bike sorted out.  Do plan to run it through all the gears once you get it off the trainer before you hit the road this weekend.  You know a lap around the parking lot or something.

Robin - Swimming at 9000 feet! Eek!

Chris - Around here we don’t feel that it’s necessary to cage our pools.  Seriously, I’m glad that you didn’t have any damage personally and I’m sorry that your coworker experienced this.  Around here, Zoe has a good selection of branches to carry around.

TJ - I feel certain that our midwestern Manatees would be willing to share their snow with you!  How’re you feeling?

Frustrated mostly. I did a half hour DM run yesterday. It wasn't painful (I would have stopped if it were) but I did feel... twinges, I guess. Like the knee might buckle. I'll try again this afternoon and see what I get.  Fortunately my training plan had a long taper built in so I'll be able to work my way up to 26 still, then have a bit less of  a taper than originally planned. That is, if I can keep running pain free.

Dude, that sounds so awesome! What an experience.

Stay safe all you Manatees weathering the storm(s)

Speaking of, now that I'm nice and acclimated to the cold weather wearing shorts below freezing and such, I'm headed to Oahu to melt on my runs. I'm taking my mom camping on the beach. It should be a great adventure and some good quality time.

Think ST did a write-up on this one. More out in the woods than others are. Also being well up in the mountains. Supposed to be incredibly scenic. Think if the swim was swapped for paddle board it might be something you'd consider.

Yeah, probably. I have another trainer ride today, but I'll test it out before Saturday morning when I go out for my long ride.

Thanks for checking in, Laura and Chris.  I'm glad to hear you were spared.

The nasty weather made it to PA, too.  We had very high winds, flooding, and a tornado touched down in the eastern part of the county I live in (I'm toward the west), but we must've had wind sheers or something randomly strike nearby.  There were numerous trees, big and small, ripped over.  Some roads were closed this am because of damage and flooding.  Also, the fascia is hanging off the front of neighbor's house.  We had smaller to medium branches down in my yard and we of course have mini streams of water in the basement.  The sump pump is running every few minutes.  We also lost power for a few hours overnight, but all in all we're good.

Does this have a different meaning than I'm aware of? Because otherwise, that just sounds terrifying...and gross. Sorry to hear about your basement streams, but glad you're mostly okay otherwise.

Pretty sure we're going with definition #1

Thanks, Matt!  Yup, definition #1.  #2 would be bad, very bad.

I miss you guys so badly, I am trying to figure out more time to jump into this forum more and keep up with your awesome posts.
I hope everyone is doing fine and racers are ready for racing this weekend, and those with injuries and sickness are getting better.

Adrienne, this made me think of you...

Happy Friday everyone!

We've got a few things on the agenda this weekend but i hope to get in a longer run than i've been doing and some more yoga. I am seriously looking at some 10k road races and maybe a sprint tri to aim for to give me something to train for and keep me fit and consistent.

Do we have any racers this weekend??

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
