After going there with my 2 young kids (and wife of course ) last New Years, it'll be a good 5+ years before I head back. It felt like 1/2 of the country goes there for NYE. My wife was breast feeding our 9 month old on a stoop cause there was nowhere to sit and it was 100 degrees. Not fun!On another note, I found my HRM! I can't believe I didn't think to check the dirty laundry hamper. Now what to do with the Scosche Rhythm 24 I ordered....obviously keep it, right?? Too funny, I thought I lost my scoshe HRM, looked everywhere for it, so ordered the upgraded rhythm 24. Of course I found the old one right after getting the new. Decided to keep the 24 to try it out. I was leaning toward returning it since I decided to be fiscally responsible, but then my puppy ate the armband! Of course the 2 versions have slightly different widths at the attachment point, so the 24 is useless ! I looked for a replacement band and couldn’t find one for the 24. Lots for the old version though! Moral of the story: puppies are bad Poor Teddy The Griff, he's just misunderstood. He is well understood, he’s bad and he’s ok with that! He heard that you had a missing Scoshe and he found one. He's a retriever. He retrieved! (and then he got distracted and his teeth slipped) haha, spot on! I'm definitely going to keep it. Although there are a lot of mixed reviews on Amazon about it, I'm excited about not having to wear a chest strap, at least for running. Good luck racers!! |

Used it both upper and lower arm and works great. I did have an issue with the rhythm though- wore it into the lake after a ride and it became unresponsive. I had to let the battery completely drain and then recharge. It seemed to be ok then, but before I could confirm that Teddy ate the strap. |

Well, I suspect Janyne’s 50 miles, but five-0 could be some nod to the police I thought the same thing with the Five-O great minds... or just 'cause that's our world. Yeah mine is a HM. Only in Wisconsin is 13 miles a "mini" something! They also have a Milwaukee Brewers Mini that is also a HM Five-O as in police. Nice! Except now I have that theme song in my mind! |

Seeing a 1:45 brick run in Training Peaks (and wanting to die a bit inside) and getting an "Atta girl" from your coach when he reviews the day's workouts. 2. Mowing the grass after a bike/run brick so the only thing you have to do on Sunday is hold down the couch. 3. Sleeping past 5 a.m. on Sundays. 4. Coconut Cream Pie. 5. Puppy love. |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED I would die too seeing a 1:45 brick run on my plan. And I suspect that day is coming in the next few months.....(training for first full IM)! Not doing the super-early shift anymore, but in Saigon, yes, sleeping past 5 AM any day would make me happy! (Always getting up early either to train before work, or before it got hotter than h.... on weekends for long runs and rides.) What made me happy today was that I survived an 81 mile ride and did not get dropped. Pizza stop before riding home another 11 miles. Then I did a brick run (only 20 minutes, but I don't think I have ridden more than about 65-70 miles in at least three years, and have only hit 90-100 miles a few times in my life). It didn't feel nearly as bad asI thought it would be. (1:45 might have been different, though, especially in 90-ish temps.) And then we tried out a new teriyaki place and discovered they also have FROZEN (as in blended, like Frappuccinos) naturally flavored bubble tea. They make it from scratch so you can get less sugar if you ask. (I have this aversion to sweet stuff, and detest almost anything frozen made by Starbucks and their ilk for that reason, as well as the smoothies at most places). OMG that stuff is GOOD. Enough to put the life back into you after a 5 hour plus workout! I can see some future workouts ending up there! |

That is a very nice list, a happy list! Excellent work, especially on holding down the couch! My list would probably swap out the Coconut Cream Pie for Banana Cream or Chocolate Cream. |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Happy List--not all tri-related 1. Mountains with clean air and no forest fires (I have been living/training/traveling in what feels like a BBQ for weeks now) 2. Swimming in calm tropical ocean or really big pools 3. Running when it's quiet and scenic 4. Having time to enjoy a good meal (will make sense to teachers--we're always rushing through breakfast and lunch) 5. Seeing what looks good at a farmer's market, then cooking it for dinner when I'm not exhausted/famished 6. Sunday brunch and then afternoon with the Times when I'm tired from training and just want to sit there and read 7 Good book, blanket, and warm cat on a cold night 8. Anything cold that involves coconut 9. Salmon, sweet corn, raspberries. If all in one meal, even better! 10. My kitty cats |

Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED So, I changed it up into two lists for my happy place. To Tri and Not to Tri. To Tri 1. Finishing 2. Cold watermelon at the Finish 3. My wife and whoever else at the finish. 4. My Bike. 5. Anything that wipes the salt off of my face, during or after an event or training session. Not To Tri 1. My wife (we will celebrate 25 years on the 28th) 2. My Kids 3. Triathlon 4. Getting a good result for my clients 5. Anything on, in or to do with open water. (except fishing that's boring, but I would be more than happy to drive the boat). |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED I am getting a new bikey tomorrow! Kind of my birthday present to myself. Taking "Rover" to the bike shop so that the components I want to transfer (seat, pedals, cranks with power meter, water bottle cages) can be moved to the new bike. Rover has served me and his previous owner faithfully for many years, but in the past year or so has developed a worrisome number of mechanical issues despite repeated maintenance, and I think he is just wearing out. Would need to replace gearing and most bolts as a minimum. There is also a persistent, annoying fit issue with him that can't be solved without replacing the entire front cockpit--probably simpler to get a new bike. Will post a picture of "Andreas" when he is camera-ready. |

Veteran 2441 Western Australia | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Hi Manatees POL post from me. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. It was because I have been really slack and not running much and checking BT made me feel guilty. I'm doing a bit better now. One of the girls at work encouraged me to make some major diet changes and I am feeling much better. Today is day 14 with no sugar or flour. Thankfully it has been a bit easier than I thought it would be and I have started sleeping really well which is something that I have always struggled with. I also feel like I have a lot more energy which is great. As an added bonus I have also lot about 8lb in the last 2 weeks. On top of all of that the sun is now coming up before 7am and the weather is warming up a bit (although this morning is was almost freezing at home) and there is a hint of spring in the air. Sorry that this means that you are moving out of summer and into fall but it always makes me happy Oh and they finally found out what the problem is with Ma Turtle's heal and the physio that she has been referred to is a running and it is rapidly improving. Ma is even thinking that she will be able to run the 10k when E and I do the marathon in 8 weeks time. Edited by StaceyK 2018-08-22 8:22 PM |
