I'm home today hoping I don't have a concussion after tripping and hitting my head on the sidewalk last night. I have some nasty abrasions on my hand and knee too. I love Fall. Falling, not so much. Yikes, I hope you heal up quick. Falls like that can be pretty nasty. And Fall is my favorite time of the year. On the path last night I got to run over crunchy leaves and the trees are starting to change colors. |

Wasn't planning on tapering much before next weekend's race, but we'll see what she has to say. Ugh. Steve, I love"leaf tromping." It's one of my favorite activities. :-) Plus the golden days we get. I always think of them as stolen from winter. My allergies go a little bonkers this time of year, but I still relish those days. |

I mean really rest. No TV OR ANYTHING! (I'm learning this now as my friend's daughter has one from taking a spiked volleyball to the face!) Take care of you!! |

Master 2429 Falls Church, Virginia | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.3 CLOSED (or Poptarts? Pet pics?) Bike Question! I posted this on TT and in my training log, then remembered belatedly that I have a whole pod of Manatees to mine for knowledge. When I pedal with my left foot, there's a clicking noise. Kind of tsk, tsk, tsk, but metallic. Do bikes just make noises like that? Could something be out of whack? |

Does it always happen at the same point in the pedal stroke? |

Might not be pedal type, but good to know which. ETA: It could be just tightening up that pedal to the crank some, as another poster mentioned. Probably first thing to try. Member 2689 Denver, CO | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.3 CLOSED (or Poptarts? Pet pics?) GOOOOOOOOOO RACERS!!!! Feel better, DLers. Let's get that list cleaned out again. Sorry for the late check-in. I'm doing okay. Doc says no concussion (whew). I still have a headache, mild nausea, and lots of muscle soreness from getting my back all knocked out of adjustment. My shiner and other assorted bruises are developing nicely too. My swim mask and goggles both hit right on the bruise by my eye so until that clears up, swimming will be pretty uncomfortable. The doc said I can go back to training and should be fine to race next Sunday but I'm going to pull the plug anyway. TBH, it's kind of a relief to let myself back out. I don't see any point in racing if I'm not going to enjoy it, and realistically, I just don't think I will. I'll defer to next year, let myself heal up and start working toward the Zion HM when I'm ready. It's disappointing to end the season this way but in some ways that disappointment is good. That means I still want to do this silly sport. :-) I'll come back hungry next year, having learned a lot this year, not least to pick up my feet when I run! |

Pro 6520 Bellingham, WA | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.3 CLOSED (or Poptarts? Pet pics?) Just a mid weekend check in. Atlantia (sorry but I want to just call you hotlegs), I'm guessing a bottom bracket issue but I'm sure your LBS can diagnose pretty quickly and it probably is an easy fix. Mary, I'm so glad to hear you are ok. I've been worried about you and am glad to hear you md feels you are fine. Today was one of the greatest days of my life. This was our third year doing a multisport relay (run, mtb, road bike, trail run, kayak, team run) in a event that is one of the biggest of the year in our town. We won the mixed team division and were 12th out of 167 teams. So proud of our squad. No superstars but everyone gave 110% effort. I gave it everything. Average HR was 182 (max 187). I am so happy.

Excellent work. Wasn't that the same event you did last year where you had a picture of all of you crossing the line together? Can't believe it's been a year if it is. Hot Legs, can you put the bike in a work stand and turn the cranks? And at lest eliminate the shoes. Mary, glad you're on the mend. Bit of a random question. Does anyone listen to the real starky podcast and knows what the song is they play at the end of every show? It's bugging me. |

They're not clipless or anything, just the platforms that came with the bike. I just wear sandals or whatever when I'm riding. I'll see about tightening the crank, as that seems to be the most popular suggestion. Thanks! ETA: my bike isn't a road bike or anything, I just have a grocery getter. Steve great job by you and your team on the race, it sounds like a very cool event. Laura I think Steve is possibly right about his idea that you derailer needs a slight adjustment. |

Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees 2015.3 CLOSED (or Poptarts? Pet pics?) They scrapped the swim on Yanti's race? Looks like she got about 10k into the run and then done. Need to go stalk Adrienne's race from yesterday. ETA: not part of her series. ooops Awesome race, Steve! What fun. I remember you talking about it last time. Hope you have some pics to share with us! Mary, sucks about your bumps/bruises/doc visit. Glad it's not a concussion, but really a bummer that it pushed you out of your race. Good choice...still Laura, figure out your click? Hope everyone else is having a good weekend. Just sent J off to Dallas for 4 days. Then he's in Orlando all next week. Sheesh.

Swim wasn't scrapped--times were: "Race directors have decided that all swim times of 2015 IRONMAN 70.3 Pula, Croatia will be voided. After the first swimmers entered the water, strong winds and currents caused two course marking buoys to break free from their mountings, guiding athletes off course. To ensure a fair race, all official race times will start at the swim exit. (sj)" |

Congrats, Steve!!! There's nothing like knowing you gave an all-out effort and winning to boot. A big shout-out to your squad too!! I think I'd keel over with a HR like that. Once I get up around 175-176, I start feeling like crap and can't sustain it. I can't imagine sustaining that for any period of time. |

Good job, Yanti, for hanging in there as long as you did! |
