Overcast
Total Time = 1h 33m 37s
Overall Rank = 198/8569
Age Group = M30-39
Age Group Rank = 67/1355
Pre-race routine:

Since good ole MARTA managed to make us almost late...there really wasn't any except for running to the start corral.
Event warmup:

See pre-race routine.
Run
  • 1h 33m 37s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

I was going for a sub 1:30 which was in hindsight kind of foolish with the difficulty of the course. Started off well ran the first mile in 6:20 and felt good, but I had to pee so I stopped at the pot o potty at Mile 1. By the time I got out and started running again I was 14 seconds off pace already. By mile 5 I was a 45 seconds off and it just got worse from there. I knew about 6 miles that it wasn't my day and just did the best that I could. In the end I was about 45 seconds off of my PR from 3 weeks ago on a much harder course.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure, I took it easy this week in order to rest my legs but they were still heavy today. It was a cold windy day and a very challenging course so I can't complain too much.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and got some food, then the wind really kicked up and I was freezing.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I have had a throat tickle all week and the conditions.

Event comments:

ING did a great job putting this race on. It is a tough challenge but I still enjoyed the race.

MARTA let you down? Never! Ha Ha. I don't think this is the course for PR's, but it is a fun race.
