I posted this in the other thread but I'll put them here too.

If you want to make a shirt, the flipped iron-on transfers can be downloaded (right click/save as) with these links...

If you want to just print it out and pin it to the back of a shirt, download the non-flipped images here...

Whizzzzz - 2008-07-15 5:28 PM Yes. Chris and I were going to do that anyway! Take a picture of ourselves right after our 5K for Christine.

Then we can compile those photos into a tribute thread, that can be printed or preserved somehow for the family...?

Shutterfly.com does a really nice memory book from uploaded photos.  My son's kindergarten class did one for their teacher this year - I thought it came out great.  Maybe something like that would be doable and nice for the family.  Everyone could up load their photos on a thread here and then we could organize them and upload them to shutterfly. Other photo sites have similar stuff, but I've only seen the shutterfly one in person....they come in two sizes I think - 8x8 and 12x12.

Wow- already 144 people signed up on BT to run the race.

Amazing.

the real numbers are probably much higher since many of us are running and making donations through the Paypal account instead of signing up through Active.

I registered through Active before the info about the Paypal account was set up. I was telling another friend of mine who is a runner about it and he is signing up as well via snail mail to the Hit the Trails store.

Dang, do we know if any of the money paid by those of us who registered through Active.com will go to Christine's family? I know Active.com takes their chunk, but surely some of it must go to the RD, who then can decide what to do with fees from those of us who aren't actually running and therefore aren't adding to things like supplies, liability, etc.

The RD has stated that any out of state entry that he receives he will consider coming for Christine. He also stated that the proceeds from the race will go to her family.

He's not just any RD, he knew Christine and knows her family. I've total faith in him to give her family what we've donated.

And some folks don't know how to add races to their logs!!

Oh, it's not the RD I'm concerned about - I did see that he posted on here about the race, about knowing Christine. More concerned with Active taking all the dang money...

Yep, the 144 (now 154)represents those who have added the race to their calendar here on BT. Has nothing to do with who has paid through which channel.

Those who don't know how to do this, go to this link to do so.

I ran my virtual 5k for Christine this morning -- not the official time or place or t-shirt, but I was barefoot and ankle-deep in the Pacific at 7:30 am, started my run toward the pier, and the dolphin showed up, not more than 15 feet away, swimming alongside and playing in the shorebreak.  I could only wish that she was on their backs heading out into the horizon for a new adventure.

I will be thinking of her and of all of you who loved her, even if not running again, on Friday.

I just wanted to let you guys know my experience as an RD with Active.com registration. The RD can decide to pay Active.com from the entry fees, or have Active.com charge their processing fee on top of the entry fee. If you enter a race on Active.com, like this one, and they split out the entry fee and processing fee separately, the entry fee is what the RD will get.

In this race, the RD will get $12, and active.com gets, I think $3. In my experience, Active.com has always paid as expected.

I would expect the RD to cover his expenses and give the proceeds after that to Christine's family.

Hope this helps a little with the 'who gets what' confusion. Of course, ALL of the paypal money will go to her family.

I'm pretty sure paypal charges fees as well. Not $3 per transaction, but there are fees.

depends on what kind of account the receiver has, if they have a business account, then there is a small percentage fee, if they have a regular account, then no fee.

it's best for givers to give via bank accounts rather than credit cards, there is a for the receiver if you use a CC.

I'm in, too.  I unfortunately never knew Christine, but her story has really touched me.  I'll be dedicating the last 5K of my Oly on Saturday to her.....I hope to make her proud!
