So I have this annoying blister that just popped up.  I think it had something to do with these new socks with this "cushioning".

Take a needle, pop the blister and drain it.
dip the needle in neosporine and coat the inside of the blister with it, repeat until the whole thing has a coat of neosporine along the whole inside of the water sack.
put a band aid advanced healing blister pad over it.
when the pad falls off it'll probably take the loose skin with it, that's okay. It should be vaguely healed by then.

This has worked for me for untold road marches where we had to run regularly as soon as we got back.

Be very, very careful of infection when popping. I am personally in favor of attempting the reattachment before popping. I'll baby the sucker hardcore (donut bandage and super soft socks) so it will reattach. I find a few days of babying it means it heals about fifty times faster, because the old, tough skin is still there, not the new, totally raw skin. I have an eternal blister on the ball of my foot, and I get it to reattach about 90% of the time and am back out there in about two days with nothing to show there was ever a problem. When it does rip, I'll get as much to reattach as possible, then let the rest slough off when it is ready.

I usually don't pop a blister until I see white inside the blister instead of red.  The white (I think) is the new skin forming and poping the blister won't hurt.  If you pop the blister right away, it gets pretty tender.  I can usually avoid blisters by filing my callouses down once a week or so.  As long as the callouses are very thin, they don't run and form a blister underneath.

I LOVE popping blisters. The best ones are the blood blisters IMO.

I pop with a needle, drain, then leave it alone. It is normally hard by the next morning.

Fun times!!!

I haven't had a bad blister since I stopped switching shoe models. The last bad blistering I have was with some new balance shoes I bought which left a oval 1" x 3" blister on my arch. I stick to my asics gt2080->2120 and haven't had and blisters except for on the tips of my toes but very infrequently.

I only pop them when they are in a spot that will be continually irritated.  I get them on the back of the arch of my foot all the time (due to necessary inserts) and I leave those alone.  I also have a tendency to get them between my toes.  Those I'll pop.

The only time I've ever popped a blister, it became seriously infected. It was painful and the most disgusting thing I ever saw (yes, I disenfected the needle). When I went to the podiatrist, he said he could see where I had made my little needle holes, but that they weren't going to do any good. He said I would have had to have cut a large hole in the center of the blister for it have done any good. Fortunately, I went from infected blister the size of a quarter (seriously, it quadrupled in size during the day while I sat at work) to doing a HIM completely pain-free 4 days later.

Wow...I had no clue that the majority of people actually pop their blisters...I don't. I typically slap a bandage on it and go. But I guess to get rid of it fastest, popping is the way to go.

Sorry, but this is screaming at me. Seems like your method is not working if you have an eternal blister.

For me, if they are small and/or don't hurt I just leave them be. If they are large and hurt I'll pop, drain, apply ointment and keep covered. After a couple of days I'll leave it uncovered overnight so it will dry. I try to leave the dead skin intact as long as possible. I do cover, pad, and duct tape tender areas in a three later method when I have to run on an existing blister.

The ones I get from running, I usually end up popping.  If not, they get worse and they usually tear which takes longer to heal.  Drain early, put some neosporin on it, and they seem to do a lot better in the long run.

Personally, I pop, but I'll wait a day or two before doing so. Then I tape the sucker up (usually use one of those nifty new won't-come-off-in-a-hurricane band-aids, they really work, but then tape it up with sports tape so it won't move when you run). I take the tape off a few days later--like new!

On another note--omg, this is not the tastiest thread to read first thing in the morning after breakfast. Lol...ew...!

I cut the skin away completely, let it air dry for a little bit.  I used to put a bandage over it, then duct tape.  Now, I use liquid skin to cover it.  Works much better, but stings like an SOB.

I have never gotten an infection, I've never used Neosporin.

I pretty much always just pop them when I get home from an event or from a workout.  The in a few days I'll peel the dead skin off.

Why baby a blister? Pop the sucker and go. Leave the skin on and it'll dry and either fall off by itself or become a callus. Sure, it may sting a little, but HTFU!

I've never had a popped blister get infected. Maybe that's just bad luck...

Happy training!

Oh, the blister goes away within a day or so (reattaches completely). I just keep getting blisters in the same place. I would guess my form is messed up, plus I do stupid stuff like grab the wrong socks or even the wrong pair of shoes. I often run when I'm away from home, so didn't necessarily grab the right stuff and just go with what I have. Bad equipment plus bad form equals a blister. I also hike extensively, and grinding away with wet feet does not do good things for skin. It just happens to form in roughly the same spot, and has been for years. It's usually a month or more between blisters, though.

Short version: blister heals completely with my method, I'm just dumb and keep getting blisters every so often.

Preparation H. You dont need to pop the blister and it will be dried out in a couple of days.
