Subject: RE: Best races in the US for beginners?If I were racing for fun, I would pick one of these:
1 ) A race that is obscenely hard. You won't be going fast anyway, so you might as well get some bragging rights.
2 ) A race that starts in one country and finishes in another. It's kind of novel.
3 ) A race with an ocean swim. It's more fun than freshwater, because you have waves, tides, current, salt, and little sea critters to look at while you swim. Watch out for driftwood!
4 ) The Grand Columbian Olympic in September. The Iron-distance is unfortunately deceased, but there is now an Olympic-distance guy. It's super scenic, you swim in a magical lake, you get to bike over a giant dam, and you run in a little canyon. The people are friendly and it's not crazy like a lot of big triathlons. They gave out a ridiculous amount of swag for the Iron before, so they might do that for the Olympic too. |
