Im sure the Nimbus are good shoes too, but I have been wearing Kayanos for almost 5 years. They are without a doubt the best shoes in a 4e that are out there. I was actually to take a brand new pair out of the box and run the NYC marathon with them, and have no blisters or any other problems.

Having (it has been established) the biggest feet on BT (that is, width-to-length), it's really hard to find a shoe that fits and has motion control (FLAT SUPER-EXCESSIVE PRONATOR HERE).

asics gel-foundation gets my vote as the only shoe that fits me, and, it fits my budget nicely too.

(used to be gel-evolution but the changes made it not fit).

I am on my 9th pair of the ProGrid Triumph's from Saucony and love them. The cushioning is great for "heavy runners" and have not had any issues at all when using these.

I was running in the Asics Nimbus prior to the Triumph and kept coming up with foot and knee soreness.

5th pair of Brooks Adrenaline. I used to run in the NB 7x7 series but they didn't last that long milewage wise.

I love the Brooks Addiction shoes. I have been wearing them for the past 3 years and will buy another pair this year. They are great for flat feet that overpronate (like mine).

I was having all sorts of problems with the running shoes that I used prior to switching to my Mizuno's.  I think that ultimately the most important thing is just finding a shoe that fits you correctly but I like Mizuno because of their price, durability, and fit.

I have a hard time buying running shoes, primarly due to my size 10 1/2 feet (women's). Add to that the fact that I pronate on my right foot, and supinate on my left...doh! I've tried Asics, Saucony, Etonic, Nike, Brooks, and Adidas...just to name a few. So far, the only shoe that can accomodate my weird feet AND offer me the least amount of pain while running, is the Adidas Supernova Sequence (formerly known as Supernova Control).

Pro-grid Ride!!

There is no single Best, just the Best for you!!! These are my first REAL running shoes and I live them! They turned the Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon into a comfortable run!! My previous Saucany's (sportmart $50) were painful by the end of the Sportinglife 10k!!!

Brooks Adrenaline + my Lynco insoles keep me from dealing with annoying lower extremity issues because I have a very high arch that flattens like a pancake on contact.

Also found some great deals on the 2007 models on ebay for pennies on the dollar!

Mizuno Wave Creation

I've got seriously high arches and nearly run on the outside of my foot.  These shoes give me a ton of support, are light, and feel good.

Asics 2120.  Great shoe lots of forefoot cushion where I like it.  Decent price and fits me well.

I can't say enough about the Asics 2100 series.  I have been running in these for 3 seasons now.  First of all, switching shoes a lot really increases your risk of injury.  Your muscles and bones have developed around the movement of your shoes.  Switching, especially in the middle of the season can lead to issues.  So when I say I have been in the 2100 series for 3 years, this is particularly why.  I haven't found a need to switch.  I love that I can run 20+ mile runs on a new pair (no break in).  Also, they are always on sale, in fact I just bought 2 pairs for $100 (regular price is $95).  I go through a lot of shoes (every 4-5 weeks during IM builds) so price is a very big concern.  One of the biggest defenses you can deploy against running injuries is to replace your shoes often.

Now my only concern is that I can only get about 300 miles out of a pair.  If I am running a lot of long runs (>17 miles) I can only get about 250 miles.  I have done the math and mile for mile they are still cheaper with the fewer miles than the more expensive Kayano's.

Early / pre-season is the right time to do some experimenting with a new shoe, so the time is right if you are thinking about a switch.

Mizuno Wave Ronin - Light as a feather and bad a** looking. Great Flat

x2
Also, slightly more room in the toe area (critical for me) compared to another flat I tried in the same size.

Irun with gel CumuLuS.....and they never wear out, they are still comfortable and lightweight.I am positive the gel nimbus are better with more gel packed into the heel.

My question is how long to the Zoot TT's last??? i can see with no laces that they might feel loose around the ankle eventually..... i am looking at buying them for better t2 times for sprint tri's.....

they are sup lightweight...... what is everyones opinion on them??

or reccomend any other good transition shoes...... how tight are speedlaces?

I was a long time user of the Mizuno Wave Creation... lost some weight and wanted a lighter trainer/racer, so I decided to try the Zoot Ultra TT... Great shoe for sprints!

Then I found the Adidas Boston.  Vented like/better than the Zoot, add some speed laces, and voi-la!  Light, flexible, vented race shoe for all distances. (held up very nicely in  the Ironstar halfiron - and I'll be running in them for the Houston Marathon).  Tri 'em, ya might like 'em!
