Subject: RE: bee sting on the bikeI have been stung so many times...but only once on the bike. Last year, a bee ran into my hand and stung me on the thumb right above my glove. I yelped so loud, I frightened the folks riding with me. No ill effects, though. Then, a couple of years ago, I was running and a yellow jacket ended up between me and my water belt in the back. Unfortunately, not as simple as just unhooking the water belt and taking it off. Because to make the belt fit I had to shorten up the straps, I had a lot of strap left over, which I tied in about 3 knots (too lazy to cut the ends off). So, while it took me what seemed like forever to get the belt off, the stupid wasp stung me two or three times. And I freaked out another runner going the opposite direction with my dancing and cussing. When I was a horse person, I got stung regularly. Even got a bee in my pants once. The worst was when my horse decided to munch into a yellow jackets' nest (they nest in the ground); we both headed for the barn at top speed, covered in yellow jackets. I think I got stung at least a dozen times. Not sure how many times the horse got stung, but he was pretty unhappy for the rest of the day. Just glad I'm not allergic. |
