I got my first bee sting while cycling today.  Took a bee sting right between the eyes.  I didn't panic and was able to pull off the road, unclip and get my husband to remove the stinger and the bees innards from my face.  I have never been allergic before, but am taking benedryl just in case.  The area is still throbbing.  I think the bee got in my sunglasses and couldn't get out.  It really wasn't a pleasant experience, but hey it gives me something to talk about!

Between the eyes, that sucks! Sorry to hear that.

I have bugs go in my helmet all the time, but so far no stings. However, I have had a hornet land on my leg/hip as I made a turn (e.g. out of aero), after the turn I returned to the aero postion and he stung the he!! out of me. No joke, I had a small hole in my hip for two weeks where he stung me. Plus, a nice big red spot that burned for hours.

Yikes!  At least it wasn't IN your eye!!

I had one sting me on the leg last summer, and then a couple of weeks ago I was riding up a huge hill and one flew into my bra--I grabbed a handful of material, drug the stinger across my chest, and then it stung me in the breast  before it got away.  I didn't stop riding because I didn't want to stop on the hill.  I had a pretty ugly scratch and sting for a while.  I keep my jersey fully zipped now!

I need to put a benadryl in my bike stuff, just in case.

Thanks for the tip about keeping the jersey zipped up.  I certainly don't want a bee in my bra.  I may also put some benedryl in my bike pouch.

I had a bee fly in my mouth about 2 years ago.  Damn thing bit me while trying to get out.  Pulled over and sat for a second as my lip blew up.  Then figured I wasn't allergic and continued ridding.

I really, really need to add benadryl to my bike bag and run belt. My distances are long enough now it's possible I couldn't get home before reacting too badly.

I keep forgetting to pack the Benedryl.  I've been stung a few times riding, sometimes they get stuck in the vent holes of my helmet not to mention once on a tri run, and my favorite three yellow jacket stings on my legs while doing a trail marathon last fall at mile 6 which throbbed til somewhere between mile 13 and 15 and was swollen for a few days.

I guess it's all part of the game, thankfully I don't appear to be allergic.

About 15 years ago, I had a bee fly into my mouth and sting me on my tongue.  Fortunately, I was close to a strip mall that had a drug store and restaurant.  I got some benedryl and ice.  Called for help for a pickup.

I'm not normally all that allergic, but my tongue swelled up a lot.  Enough to make me gag some.  I ended up going to the ER.  Everything turned out ok, but it was kind of scary to have my tongue swell up that much.

Oh, and a few weeks later, one flew into my shirt and stung me on the side about 3 or 4 times.  It hurt, but wasnt near as much of a problem as the tongue one.  Haven't had any problems since.

I normally get stung one or two times each summer while riding my bike. Not sure why I attract bees so much, but I just learned to live with it.

The only time I ever have any swelling, is from a yellow-jacket sting, otherwise not a big deal.

Never stung in the mouth though, that sounds like it would be really unpleasant, and potentially dangerous.

SUCKS!  Doesn't it?  I had that once.  Bee got under the glasses and nailed me on the eyelid!  That hurt and luckily I didn't panic and go down.  But my eyelid was swollen shut for a day or two afterwards.

That would've been a wasp.. but it still hurts the same.

I have been stung so many times...but only once on the bike. Last year, a bee ran into my hand and stung me on the thumb right above my glove. I yelped so loud, I frightened the folks riding with me. No ill effects, though.

Then, a couple of years ago, I was running and a yellow jacket ended up between me and my water belt in the back. Unfortunately, not as simple as just unhooking the water belt and taking it off. Because to make the belt fit I had to shorten up the straps, I had a lot of strap left over, which I tied in about 3 knots (too lazy to cut the ends off). So, while it took me what seemed like forever to get the belt off, the stupid wasp stung me two or three times. And I freaked out another runner going the opposite direction with my dancing and cussing.

When I was a horse person, I got stung regularly. Even got a bee in my pants once. The worst was when my horse decided to munch into a yellow jackets' nest (they nest in the ground); we both headed for the barn at top speed, covered in yellow jackets. I think I got stung at least a dozen times. Not sure how many times the horse got stung, but he was pretty unhappy for the rest of the day.

Just glad I'm not allergic.

Crappy. I was warming up for a race once and a wasp flew down my jersey and stung me repeatedly. Not a great race start!

I thought I was the only one. Had a wasp get caught behind my glasses when starting out on a ride a few weeks ago and sting me just under the eyebrow. Hurt like hell and ended up skipping the ride.

One on the ankle last year during a run and even worse... during a ride, had one fly into one of my helmet vents.  I could feel it in there buzzing around... and as I tried to slow down to stop and get my helmet off...  POW... stung me!!!!  I was so pi$$ed!!!

Had a yellow jacket sting me in the groin around mile 33 of the bike at this year's FL HIM.  When I started the run, I was frustrated that I must have missed a spot with the body glide since I felt so chaffed, until I realized that's where the sting was rubbing.  That was a long 13.1 mile run.

I really don't like bees.  The race director of the last race I did led a group of us around the bike course a week prior to the race. I was pedaling along and a bee hit me. I freaked but thought he was gone. So I kept riding. Probably 4 or 5 miles later the RD rode up along side of me and said "hey you've got a friend there" The bee was sitting on my shoulder, riding along. Never stung me. I am fairly confident I would have wiped out if it did.

When you get a shot sometimes the nurse will tell you that it's just going to be a little bee sting.  She'll wonder why you just screamed.

Ouch.  Sounds like it really hurt.  Just reading about it was painful.

Hope you do well.
