The hardest part are the things/events you must give up or miss due to training, such as, family events, time with friends, etc.

not getting injured

That's certainly been the most frustrating aspect for me.

In general:  Time.

Trying to not yell at people wasting away their life way in front of a tv or on a barstool.

Relating with normal people.

Definitely the time for training.  You have to love, and I mean LOVE the training or you are going to be miserable.  The other thing is that there are so many "uncontrollable" factors on race day that can keep you from have the race you have trained for.  True it is the same for everyone, but I mean it really sucks when you train like a dog for a year and something you can't control happens to you on race day......um, like for instance a car pulls in front of you at mile 3 on the bike and crashes you....just sayin', that is just a little frustrating Frown

not starting every sentence with, "I wish I could but I am training for this ironman and I got to do this workout...."

I was definitely "that guy who is doing an ironman." It was tough not to talk about.

Long ride / run days when it's terrible outside. Some days even when it's nice outside.

There are just those weekends when you want to pop open a cold beer  on saturday and not do jack. Hard to manage that with a 6 hour bike ride
