Sounds like your Savage nutrition might be a good plan for you going forward. Interesting about your HR being higher. Could it be that the very challenging hills/wall effected your overall HR? Must be rewarding to know you beat half the elites. Race like this I suspect brings out those that normal challenge of 70.3 might be enough....and higher level athletes. I can't imagine doing this race even with my 50-34 and 11-34 cassette. |

Your training really dictates your race day ability and you can tell that you work hard when you're not racing. I can't even imagine a 31% grade hill. I did some 20% grades about a month ago and walked the last 1/3 of them. This race seems to take the 70.3 to a whole new level. I will not be doing this race, EVER. I'm glad that you had such a good day and congratulations on placing at such a tough and prestigious race. You have been a great mentor to have and I have learned a lot. |

I have to say, even though I didn't pass anyone with a name stenciled on their suit, I did pass a few guys with MDot tattoos and had a nice little smile to know that I was doing something right even if I wasn't crushing course records. I loved your anecdote about the guy's name on his . Congratulations on a great day. |
