Master 2701 Salisbury, North Carolina | Subject: RE: How many miles on your car/truck?? 242,000 on 95 Accord Ex ( bought @ 98K ), 189,000 on 94 Camry ( bought @ 182K ), 144,000 on 99 Buick Century ( bought @ 48k ), and 8000 miles on 09 Toyota Venza that we just got. Before the Venza, average total miles was 190,000+ on 3 cars. We also have 2 teen drivers now ..... gotta love it. A few yrs to go until I plunk down a few $ for a new Mustang. That's a lot of gas @ 17 mpg. yep lots of gas, I'm get'n arounnd 16mpg...for 3years I drove 106miles round trip to work p....with $2 per day for the toll! I don't even wanna figure out how much $ that adds up to! My next car/truck will get at least 25mpg!if you haven't had the shifting issue you probably will soon. There's a piece of plastic (aka crap) that releases your shifter when the break pedal is pressed. Apparently (I found this out the hard way) 50%-90% (depending on who does the math) have failed before or shortly after 100k miles. When it fails you can't shift out of park. You can fix it on your own for about $60 and two hours or you can pay your dealer approx $300 to fix it with the same crappy part. I chose to fix mine on my own simply because the replacement part is much better than the OEM part. Here's a link that does a better job explaining everything. http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=127191&highlight=park+lock I bought the Billet Tech piece and installed it this weekend. |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: How many miles on your car/truck?? We are a 4 vehicle household for the two of us so not sure we count much since I work from home. Hubby's main car is an '04 Subaru Outback Sedan - got it late in Nov 03 and it just went over 93K. Knock on wood - it has had the brakes done once, a headlight changed and we are getting ready to replace the original tires - that is it. Love it... Hubby's truck - '08 Dodge Ram 3500 has just over 26k miles but it is mainly used to pull the toys unless the Roo breaks down. My '08 BMW z4 has just over 26K on it. We got it used last November with almost 21K on it so it doesn't get drove much since hubby doesn't fit well in it. and the Harley - 09 Street Glide has just over 11K miles on it. Love them all but the Subaru has done remarkable for 3 years in Alaska and 4 years here in Oklahoma. |

Want to make it another 120K, but since the car is only worth a couple thousand $$$$, a large repair would essentially total it. (the timing belt replacement every 60k miles almost totaled it this last time) had an 86 Jetta that I took 250K. Loved that car. fender bender totaled it according to insurance. ($800 repair) We'll see what happens...... Pretty sure that all of the new replacement timing belt parts for A4 VWs are 100k rated. So, your original timing belt interval would have been 60k, but should now be 100k. If you had the work done at the dealer, have them pull the part numbers they installed to double-check. (the issue was the tensioners would wear out... they have updated the part) I had 203k on the 2001 Jetta TDI I just traded in.... on a 2007 Cooper with 57k miles. the 2004 Pilot (pronounced Pee-low) has 105k. We bought it in 2008 with around 65k on it. It is ready for a timing belt now. |

Extreme Veteran 3177 | Subject: RE: How many miles on your car/truck?? just broke 100,00 thousand on our 2006 Toyota matrix. Our subara that died in 2009 had over 200k on it though I dont remember how much exactly. It blew a head gasket and made me sad. My High School/College care was a 1986(?) Plymouth Caravel that had almost 300k miles on it when it fell apart my sophamore year of College (literally fell apart, the bracket holding the radiator on broke off resulting in the radiator falling out while drive 65 down the highway which in turn ripped out a lot of the cooling and other systems. I signed it over to my then GF's dad who was a mechanic and stripped it for parts) |

Member 143 Oklahoma City, OK | Subject: RE: How many miles on your car/truck?? I was commuting in a 93' Honda Accord with 275K miles on it, then gave it to my older son when he turned 16. He's had it nearly 2 years, and approaching 290K. He graduates H.S. in May, and I'm hoping it will last him through college (fingers crossed). When I gave him the Honda, I bought myself an 05' Ford Taurus from my work. It's at 90K and going strong! Younger son turns 16 in 18 months, so I'll probably give him the Taurus, and find something else for me. Wife drives an 07' Sequoia with 25K. We only pay cash for cars and only buy used. And liability insurance only for everything except the Sequoia. Thank you Dave Ramsey! :-) |
