Saw a couple of great signs that made my sarcastic self chuckle during my HM Saturday (Monumental Marathon).

At Mile 2 or so: "You are NOT almost there"

Another: "It Feels Weird Cheering For Random Strangers"

And Another: "Finish soon, I'm Cold" (It was about 28F at the start)

Anybody else seen some creative signs recently?

haha - not a sign, but when I did the Army Ten-Miler a couple years ago, there was a guy right at the begining cheering us all on "only 9.8 miles to go!!"

Best one ever for me @ IMOO 3 years ago. Entire family holding up one giant sign with one word on each sign. It said: Look Down At Your Giant Penis.

I'm not kidding. And a little girl was holding the last sign! It was on the one really steep/long hill back in Verona.

At the '09 Pittsburgh Half Marathon the finish line was under a bridge and someone drew a Nike Swoosh and wrote "Just Did It!" in giant letters.
My wife got a great picture of me in full stride with that in the background.

It doesn't compare with jamiej, but what does?

Me cheering people on at my local marathon a few weeks ago. I admit I stole the idea from IMMOO.
My other favorite there was "You are really good at exercise!"

During my HM last month "That's not sweat, it's fat cells crying"  For a BOP only about midway in a long weight loss journey this really meant something to me and made me laugh too.  Fortunately, the family holding it must have had someone running about my pace because they moved and I saw them again about 4 miles later, right about my worst point in the race.

From B2B last year (around mile 90 or 95 of the bike):

"Taint sore??"  and I think the other one they had was something like "Smile if you peed on your bike!"

Yeah they got a big smile and laugh out of me---especially at that point of the bike.

At about mile nine of the 2001 Marine Corps Marathon, with my right IT band starting to give me issues, I turn the corner and see a lady holding a sign "pain is temporary" then she flipped it around and it read "pride is forever."  I know now that the slogan is quite popular, but that day it started the mantra that I used to get through the next 16 miles and finished my first marathon.

Just goes to show that some of the old, worn out phrases are new and important for some.

Oh man, I had forgotten about those. Thanks for making me smile all over again.

And here's one I made for a tri in Sept. I was not racing, I just went to support all my buds.
