Pre-race routine:

Ate a power bar and a banana on the way to the race site. Socialized. Was overjoyed to see I had the end spot on the transition rack....lucky me!!! Assigned spots rock!!
Event warmup:

Checked my bike at the car. Ran about 5 minutes. Stretched.

Comments:

I love this swim. You feel like you are going on a tourboat ride, relaxing and enjoying the scenery, and then all of a sudden you think "oh yeah, I've got to do a tri now!"
This is the first time I have gotten into the major action of the swim...fought my way through :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I felt I did great!
Transition 1

Comments:

Did a bit of a skid on my cycling shoes getting onto the bike....put on a bit of a show in front of the crowds :)

I loved my end transition spot!!!!!

Comments:

Wind was on the way out, backwards to the usual Kingston winds. So I saved my energy for the return trip. This route has enough hills to be challenging. They weren't a problem.
I probably lost a good 30 seconds because I had to come to a dead stop because of another rider. We had to go over a causeway and there was traffic on it. It is perfectly safe, but I guess this person was afraid and decided to stop cold turkey right in front of the bridge and walk across. It took me a while to get going to the same speed again. She should have pulled off before the freaking bridge...she must have known before that she didn't want to ride it because we crossed it on the way out!!!

I felt great for once...yeah! Actually passing people!
Post race
Warm down:

Greeted my fan club (husband, brother in law and 3 year old niece) Watched my other KMS buddies cross the finish line

Event comments:

This had to be my best race ever...I took 9 MINUTES off last year's time!! Perfect weather, perfect water conditions, very organized race, fantastic food!! I knew a lot of people...what a blast! I had an amazing time!!
Next race....OLY!!!!!! :)

Hooray, Timbit!!! The only thing quite like thrashing last year's time is passing people down the homestretch. Great job on both, sugar-cookie. You ROCK!

Hey Jen, great tri!  Knocking 9 minutes off your time is wonderful ... it shows that you've been training right.  Assigned spots sounds great.  That would eliminate the problem of some jerk arriving at the last minute and moving everyone's bikes to make him/herself room.  Judging by the times you've posted, you will be waiting for me for awhile at the finish line in Brockville.
