I lived in Germany for 2 years, and became extremely fond of: - maultaschen (a regional kind of ravioli served in a yummy broth) - zwiebelkuchen (basically, onion quiche, with bits of bacon) - laugenbroetchen (little rolls baked with a pretzel crust) - spaetzle (quickly made noodle dish, topped with melted butter)

People in the Midwest refuse to believe that New Jersey could have better sweet corn. Nothing out here comes close, and I've bought corn from farm stands in Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. I'm a bit of a corn snob. I argue that you can't really tell if it's good corn when it's drowned in butter and covered in salt. Good corn doesn't need anything. - Tastykake pies. My wife found the cupcakes at walmart, but it's the pies that are the best. My parents send us a box at Christmas and for my birthday. Speaking of which, I have to remind my mom that my birthday is coming up. - Good Pizza (NY style, from New York or Philly) - Cheesesteaks - Soft Pretzels. The longer they've been sitting at the roadside stand, the more exhaust has been absorbed and the better they are. - Wawa Half and Half (half iced tea, half lemonade). Arizona's Arnold Palmer is a suitable alternative, but not the same thing. - Yuengling. I should go into business smuggling it into Wisconsin. Last trip home, my neighbor asked me to bring him 3 cases. He's limited to one along with the other people who want us to bring them some. Not to mention we need a couple cases for ourselves. Do you think I would get in trouble if I got stopped with a uhaul trailer full of beer? - and last but not least, Pork Roll!
