Total Time = 2h 06m 50s
Overall Rank = 1810/2593
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

sheer panic! The parking situation was horrible, and I was in my car, 4.5 miles from the reservoir at a dead stop! I biked to the res about 4 miles or so. The race started late by 1 hour.

Got up at 4:15, soy shake for breakfast, and go!
Event warmup:

Bike to the res! Was not planned! I wanted to swim to warm up, but ran out of time - too much socializing
Swim
  • 28m 40s
  • 750 meters
  • 03m 49s / 100 meters
Comments:

Boy, I suck at swimming.
What would you do differently?:

Warm up by swimming first! I felt like I was so short of breath, that I was really slow.
Transition 1
  • 06m 7s
Comments:

T area was HUGE! My bike was really far from the bike course, so it was a long T1. Ate a Clif Shot
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, except improve the time
Bike
  • 51m 33s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 14.43 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt really good on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Work on hill repeats on the bike!
Transition 2
  • 04m 36s
Comments:

Again, long run to the bike rack.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - I'm not comfortable at this point of jumping off the bike or taking my shoes off early
Run
  • 35m 52s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

I was dead at this point. I walked probably half of the run section
What would you do differently?:

Train better to run the whole thing!
Post race
Warm down:

Had to walk and then bike about 2-3 miles to the car! Man they have to work on parking for next year. Found my buddies and drank a bunch of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fear on the bike at times, and lack of training with bricks

Event comments:

Everything about the race was great, but having to park so far away is a problem. And all spectators had to be there by 6:30 am b/c they closed the road, so that meant that I needed to get Tara out of bed at 5am! She gave Erik a rough time while I was racing.

Rank for my age group 368/461 - bummer

But you DID it! Awesome job! I KNEW you'd be a real Ironwoman!

Yes, working on bricks, and T1/T2 will help a lot, I think. Your bike times look real good, and I can understand your comment about the swim. Anytime you and Erik want to work on the running or biking parts, let me know and I'll come down, or we could all run around the lake by my house.

Excellent race!

Cogirl you rock. I passed you in the water but you dusted me on your bike! I'm so proud of you. If you ever want to go swimming with me at Chatsfield Park we can definitely get that swim time down. Bootygirl is even faster than I am and we swim together occasionally. Woo Hoo! You did it! You're such a stud. It was sooooo great to meet you. I can't believe we caught up with each other. Can't wait to our next one together. Hmmmm. Sept. 5 huh?....Hmmmmm!

See ya in the water!

Great Job! I went to watch some friends race. This was my first time watching and not participating. The transition area and long haul to the event is not normal. Don't let that keep you from competing. It was a lot of fun watching you ladies race.

Go Fast

Congratulations!
The parking was a huge headache. My husband and three kids (2 under the age of 3yrs) Had to wait in the heat for hours. I made the mistake of registering in the recreational group, so I had a loooooong time to panic over the swim. Your swim looked great. Way to Go!!

Congrats on your accomplishments - sounds like y'all overcame some disorganization by the race organization.
