The Route Tracker now has a "Follow Roads" function.

When I was testing it I was having one problem where it kept taking a crazy route. It just wouldn't follow the road I was clicking on.  I looked over everything I have no idea how many times. Couldn't figure it out, it was driving me nuts.

Then it hit me: the road I was clicking on has a bridge. A bridge that's been closed for the past few months. Well played, Google.

I have run into a few roads in my area that Google doesn't know about, but I know the workarounds (uncheck the box for that part of the route). All in all, it is a feature that will make me abandon my account on another site and keep everything I do on BT. Routes were the only thing keeping me from 100% adoption.

Thanks again!

Pretty cool.  Thanks.

One funny thing, it doesn't like me running left at intersections that have a "No Left Turn" sign for traffic -- it basically generated a U turn, and made a BIG CIRCLE to get to where I was.  I guess Mr. Internet knows better ...

Ha, that totally makes sense now.  I was playing around with it and I was WTF at some of the things it was trying to do.

It's a nice feature.

I sure wish it wasn't turned on by default, though...

I can't find a way to delete the last point in case of poor locator placement?  You should see the cockamamie route I just created trying to do so.

Nevermind. My super sleuth eyes neglected to see the giant "undo" button in the upper corner.

I do still like mapmyrun for the climbing gradient capability.  It's fairly hilly in my area and I like being able to compare the grade of hill climbs.

In general I love this feature.  I have some nice windy roads that made mapping on it really easy.  But my god, sometimes it has a fit and there seems to be no way to stop said fit.  It will take a funny route, I'll undo that point but then I can never really get it to follow the road at that one location again.  I don't save my routes but next time I will and put it in the support page just so you can see what I mean.  It would be nice to turn it off when it freaks out like that though.

I was foiled by this again today and had to come back and more directly ask a question:

Can you either make it so this is not the default - OR - make an option in settings so I can choose whether it's the default or not?  I do most of my riding on trails, so it's really frustrating!

You can turn it off via the "Follow Roads" checkbox on the left.

Was that always there?  Cause I swear I looked.  But, I do most of my route planning at like 4:30AM.   Thanks
