meggfishy - 2011-11-15 10:31 AM Too warm Hoping it's still too early to freak out. Was hoping for high 30s at start, 50 max at finish.

REALLY?!?  Okay, between negative freezing temps and the distinct possibility of ice rinks at the water stations OR  40 degrees to start 60 at the end.  And mind you, 60 degrees in November is dry, low humidity.

Let's focus on the positives here.  It could be a looot worse.

Goodness! Sorry, I just prefer it cooler. Lots to be positive about.

elbi999 - 2011-11-15 3:08 PM The forecast is calling for temps that are a little warmer than I would like as well...  Hoping for a sudden cool down later in the week.

Careful what you ask for: it was bitter cold a couple of years ago. Spilled water at aid stations was freezing and creating nasty patches of black ice.

3 years ago to be exact.  I'll skip the black ice, thanks. We had one bridge that was slippery at the start of Marine Corps two weeks ago. Fortunately it warmed up and that was it.

Assuming most of us run under 5 hours, it will be upper 40's at the start, mid 50's at the end. No rain, not very humid. This is Philly, it could sleet, snow, or be 80! Honestly we are going to have pretty darned good running weather for November!

Now go find something else to fulfill your taper madness. Start laying out your clothes, for example. It's Tuesday already

Yeah, I did the full that year. Pretty un-fun to have to STOP every mile (ugh, and starting up hurt so much) and carefully pick your way around large patches of ice while you and crowds of other runners try to get at the Gatorade. I'll take the mild temps over that any day!

And that's the thing that stinks about weather, is it can greatly affect your time.  I wonder how many people that year at Philly just missed a BQ by a few seconds due to the conditions.

I'm going for my 2nd BQ attempt Sunday.  My first attempt was succesfull, ....errr until they changed it to a rolling admission and my BQ time was not a fast enough time.  Hoping to change that Sunday!!

ANYONE ELSE GOING FOR A BQ Sunday??

I predict a BQ for your next race Swishy

Like you I BQ'd (at Philly last year) only to be thwarted by the new rolling admission. I got my BQ at Marine Corps two weeks ago, this time with over 5 minutes to spare, and almost 10 minutes faster than last year. Take that, BAA! Looks like 2013 will be the year.

Just looking to finish on Sunday and enjoy the day, the pressure is off. Good luck to you though!

Congrats on the BQ!!  Yeah, with the times 5 minutes faster now, plus you finished 5 minutes under, I would say you are a 99.9% shoe-in for Boston.  Congrats!!

Thanks. I hope you didn't just jinx me! It was a heck of a day for me after getting the BAA "so sorry" letter a couple weeks earlier. You surely understand. Now go get yours so I can have a beer with you in Boston

When I was running it I didn't think it was possible to go faster, but then I did the breakdown afterwards. The course was so packed it took just under 50 minutes to get through the first 10k. I ran the next 16 miles at 7:36 pace and felt great the whole time. Faded a little bit on the last two miles, but still under 7:50. So I bet I have a 3:20 in me still, but it sure ain't on Sunday!!

Bobby - Love your video link!

Gettin excited! Last weather check was low 47, high 63 and partly cloudy. Perfect running weather in my opinion!

Just cancelled our reservation at Rodeway Inn on Chestnut St in Center City for the Best Western next to the start/finish line. It was cheaper and closer to the S/F which I thought was good given all the portapotty issues I read about. So I'm excited!

Hope everyone is enjoying the taper crazys! :-)

Well you will be hearing that for hours on Sunday. Personally I'm sick of it, but then again every time I go running I have to deal with the tourists getting their picture taken in front of the statue. I wonder how many realize there is a world-class art museum just behind Rocky. Yo!

I ride down there sometimes and usually yell out, "Yo Adrian!" as I make the loop around the museum.

Sometimes I yell out, "Yo, watch the light!" to the people that want to cross the street in front of me when I have the green light. Just because there are no cars coming doesn't mean you can just step out into the street there Skippy. You still have the don't walk sign.

Sorry Brian.  I wish I could blame Taper Madness on my antics and behavior, but I'm always like this.   Well, except during Peak Ironman training.  Them I'm pretty beaten down and exhausted.  So you and others don't have to click a mysterious link, I'll post the picture for the link.   I take racing too seriously, so I try to take everything else in life not-so-seriously.

Ugh, I'll reply but I'm deleting that pic Well today turned out to be crazy busy, I am still at the office and have been working since just after 6am. Tomorrow I'm going to packet pickup, but meeting friends at the beer garden at Reading Terminal before we all head next door to the Convention Center.

BQ is the plan for May's NJ Marathon! We'll see... fingers crossed!

You are gonna rock a BQ on Sunday! Also -- I just watched that Rocky clip three times straight. I'm only doing the half, but still super excited. Hope everyone has a really great race!

I ran NJ this May. Worst marathon ever! Also one of the worst weekends I've had in years. Had nothing to do with the course though

Jersey!

I went down there a couple years ago to pace my friend  who was trying to BQ.  It was Africa hot and even the pacers were blowing up.  Miserable...I'm very glad I wasn't running the entire thing.
