Subject: Long Term Goal...met!

Tonight in the pool I did something a year ago I never dreamed possible, I swam 100 yds under 2 minutes. I swam it in 1:58 and boy I was thrilled to tears. This has been on my training log as a long term goal for over a year.

I am one who has not been a very good swimmer...twice last summer I came out of the water last in a tri. and almost didn't start one for fear of the long cold swim.

Last March I started to relearn how to swim doing TI...finally was able to put it together and really swim in June. At that time a good 100 yds was just under 3:00...over the summer it got better doing ows...then back in the pool just under 2:20. Then came the December swim challenge....for which the first half of the month I was sick and didn't swim, and the second half I was injuried due to a ankle injury from soccer. I swam more than ever for me....13500 yds in just over 2 weeks.

Thanks to the December swim challenge, NE Pooltriots and my coach's guidance, I accomplished something that I thought impossible just 6 months ago. I made 4 PB in the last 8 days on my 100 yd time..and dropped my time 10 seconds...I look forward to going to the pool and seeing what I can do now. I know I'm still a BOP swimmer...but I'm improving and challenging myself which is why I tri.

I'm so excited....now to achieve my other long terms goals....

I'm encouraged I might not come out of the water last in '06. I knew you guys would understand the thrill of achievement!

Kathy, congrats!!!  2:00/100 will put you better than BOP for many, many tris.  My first tri, I was 17:00 for an 800 yd swim and was solid MOP.

Congrats Kathy - you must feel fabulous! A 2:00/100 yard pace is one that most aspire to reach.. and considering where you started out, you should be extra proud. Keep up the good work!

Congrats!
The swim is frustrating for me as well, and I know how good it feels to meet a goal. You'll see at your next tri how much faster you are. Numbers are great, but just wait till you're actually in the water....you'll be crying from joy all over again.

Way to go Kathy. This is so cool, you'll be getting faster and faster in the races this summer. I'm glad you're not in my gender or age group, you're improving and I'm slowing down!!

That's fantastic!

As I consider myself to be a non-swimmer as well it is always encouraging to see that hard work pays off. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation!

That's fantastic!  The idea of meeting a LT goal is so foreign to me-- it means you have really stuck with this and made forward progress daily.  you're my new hero!

GREAT JOB Kathy!!!

That is the lesson, for everyone reading...hard work and time in the pool do eventually pay off.

I will now slink away sheepishly knowing I should listen to that advice myself.

Woohoo!  GREAT job, Kathy!  I can't wait to see you swim at Timberman this year!  You've inspired me to rethink some of my goals.

I don't think you are going to have to worry about being BOP anymore, I think you should be more concerned about OW sighting so you don't swim over me when you pass by , assuming of course that I start in an earlier wave.

CONGRATS Kathy! That's awesome, if you continue to work hard like that watch out people at Mooseman

BTW, I am putting together the details and optional dates for the swim clinic so we can set a date convenient for most. GOOD JOB!

Kathy- Fabulous achievement- one of many you have accomplished and en route to the next goal you set for yourself. But gotta tell ya- no doubt in MY mind that you'd reach it...none.
Happy dance!
