after reading some of the other posts, well I have some work to do apprently....

 

Swim:  20450 yds 8 h 10 min

Bike: 41.3 miles 2 h 30 min

Run: 61.22 miles 9 h 30 min

strength training: 17 h 53 min

Not wanting to put words into your mouth but I think it's easy to read threads like these and worry that you're not doing enough.  In my experience it's not the athlete that has put in the most training hours that gets the fastest times in a race.

It's great that people are managing to crack on with training in the winter but totals are just numbers. 

I hit 70% of my planned sessions (weather and work cost me 30%) and I'm slightly ahead of my weight targets.  For me, they're the two numbers I'm focussing on for the next two months.

Not a criticism of anything on this thread, just a different angle for undoubtedly a lot of people looking at it and thinking 'holy cow, I need to get out more'

It's important for beginners to realize that although the name of the site is "Beginner" Triathlete,  there is a huge range of experience and of race distances here; everything from true beginners just starting to train to seasoned Ironmen who have been at it for years. Some of us have a strong background in only one or two sports; some in none, a few in all three. Some are training for sprints, others for ultras. I think for most people the totals are more of an accountability tool than for comparing with others--at least that's true for me! The only sense in which I might compare is to check the totals of people training for similar distances, to see if I'm in the ballpark with what others are doing. But even then, it will vary depending on experience, training plans, time to train, etc.

Swim = 16,500yd

Bike = 5 hours on trainer and one short 20-miler outdoors

Run = 74.2 miles

Not nearly as much biking as I'd like (too many excuses to not hop on the trainer).  For swimming, I need more but considering I probably swam less than 30,000 yds all of last year, I am happy with this total so far.

A far cry from my pre-IMAZ training months, but triathlon training has just started again...(let me tell you, that first swim back was a DOOZY!!)

 *Had some time on the trainer as well...I average a little faster than 10mph

My bike miles are all on the trainer so not sure how accurate that is but I was happy to at least be riding.  With the new work schedule having daylight hours is rare.  Also slowly ramping up my miles running again.  Feels good.

Some of you guys are putting me to shame.  I started the month out with the flu, which did not help.

Bike-8.8 hr,  126 mi (most of it on the trainer)

Swim-10.1 hrs,  12,100m  Either the pool is longer than they tell me, or I am a very slow swimmer.

7 weight sessions

 

The good news is that my AT seems to be healed, so I can ease back into running this month.

I've done 1 tri, last August and this is my first year of training. Or working out seriously. I'm run focused now because I don't have a bike trainer yet and I haven't made it over to check out the Master's swim program 3 miles from my house. Training now for my first HM in April. I haven't run this much since high school. That being said:

Run: 55-ish miles, about 11.5 hours.
