Pre-race routine:

2 Lara bars at home, diet Dew to drink
Event warmup:

Huddling around in a "heated" tent, talking with QueenZipp. Waiting in line for the portas...and then having to bust-a-move over to the start. Which of course did not start on time anyway. Good old RMS.

Comments:

This was a craptastic course. In craptastic weather. With craptastic course support/directions/traffic control. In short. CRAPTASTIC.

As far as my performance, I ran a great 9 mile race. Too bad it was a half-mary. The last 4 miles my knees hurt & my spirit was broken by the craptasticness.
What would you do differently?:

Not run this race again.
Post race
Warm down:

"Warm" down implies I was warm. I was not. I was frigid. I desperately sought some gatorade after the race - none to be found. Found friends QueenZipp and Artemis and skeddadled...couldn't stand another moment of being there.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My knees - for miles 9-13.

The craptastic race course & logistics - RMS's fault. The craptastic weather - not RMS's fault...although Mylar blankets are a must for this weather.

Event comments:

HATED IT. Will not ever do again, even with RMS's mea culpa e-mail this morning. They screwed up royally and they know it.

GARMIN says it was really 13.37 miles (12.01 min/mile)...and I wouldn't be surprised. This course was poorly marked & marshalled. I went off by a couple of steps, but I have no doubt it could have been a quarter-mile long.
Course: Stupid. Start in field. Funnel 500 runners onto a 6-foot-wide sidewalk, then have them go down & up stairs. Turn-around, come back (and do idiotic stairs, etc. again), then run through an "interesting part of town", over the Manchester Bridge, up a big hill, down a big hill with brick sidewalks, more big downhill, rinse & repeat.

You pulled no punches here.  Yep, Another splitsville from that race company....maybe she'll learn form the mistakes and get her shizzle together.

You endured and persevered to finish.  Being mentally done 3-4 miles before physically done in that weather was toughness to finish.

Good job.

Wow.  Not good!  Sorry to hear about the Craptasticness of the day, even more sorry to hear that your knee is hurting!  Hope it's just a temp thing and feels better soon.

Yeah, the weather couldn't have been worse, really. Well, maybe a little. At least it wasn't icy. In any case, yeah, that was a sucky suck suck race all the way around. My hubby was in a group that went the wrong way (was misled, apparently), but for him it added distance.

But you still got it done. Chalk it up to character development. You can think back during other races, "well at least it's not as bad as loverox!"

Great job persevering on a tough day. The race might not have rocked but you sure do.
