Sensei ![]() | ![]() This thread may make se sound like I watch a lot of TV. But honestly, other than some sports, I basically stick to about 4-5 shows a week and they are typically cable series. I'm glad they space them out though. If I had all the series going on at once? That may take more time that I want to give. I had all 8 episodes of Black Sails save and did a marathon over the last two weekends. I'm on the fence. As SOON as it started to get good? It ended. It's like they spent the entire first season in character development. I won't lose sleep if it doesn't come back. True Blood final season starts later this month. Never figured I would be a fan but decided to give it a try in the middle of last season. I watched them in order from season one and got hooked. Finished them up just in time to start last season (since it was saved on my DVR). Been waiting for this last season. Penny Dreadful is something I may watch. Still waiting for me. GoT is obviously good but only two more episodes. Perfect for True Blood to start right afterwards (who says HBO isn't smart!) I might be giving up on Boardwalk Empire. I sort have been holding on since I have so much time invested. I thought about watching The Wire on my trainer sessions. Never saw an episode but heard it was good. I could watch the entire catalogue.

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just got into Orphan Black, which is still producing new episodes on BBC America. I watched season 1 thanks to Amazon and then caught up with TiVo and a well time marathon on BBC. It's so good, in fact, that I totally forgot about Scandal. I just realized that isn't really cable - or is it? BBC? Either way, I like it. |

I didn't think it was as good as Breaking Bad, but it was quite good. We watched it last year. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() True Detective anyone ? I stumbled into episode 4 without seeing any of the previous, and now wondering if I should go back and watch the preceeding episodes to get caught up. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The Wire was excellent as was Breaking Bad in different ways. Hard for me to pick a favorite between the two there. True Detective was amazing the first 5 or 6 episodes. Just once I'd like to see a great show with a complex mythology end as strong as it starts (Lost, X-Files). Still, very worth watching. Hoping they can be more consistent with the next True Detective anthology. House of Cards is pretty good. Band of Brothers if you haven't ever seen it is as good as it gets. Black Sails - yeah was kind of hit and miss. Serious pacing issues in the last 3rd of the season. I'd recommend Penny Dreadful, pretty good start through the first 4 episodes. Not as good as the others, but Generation Kill was worth watching. Homeland, Rome, Deadwood - all worth watching My son and I liked watching Copper, BBC America I think Guilty pleasure material - Banshee on Cinemax, Sparticus on Stars, Justified

The thing I like so much about the Wire was it feels 100% authentic. I never once in the whole 5 seasons thought anything wasn't believable. True Detective was great too but I loved the long narrative of the Wire. The characters weaving in and out of the series over the years is great. Makes me want to binge watch all three! T |

Many of those I watched already. The wife and I were disappointed with the sudden end to Rome. We wanted that to continue. I forgot about HOMELAND! I can grab all of those from on Demand. I like the previous seasons but didn't record it because it conflicted with other things. I forgot that it's out there. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() No Shameless fans? Uk version is pretty good for first 4-5 seasons. I'm watching Happy Valley, another UK show. Get past the first episode and it gets interesting real fast. Fargo the series is proving to be more fun than the original movie. Billy Bob Thorton as a hit man with a really dry but hilarious sense of humor. The Americans just finished season 2 and has been worth the watch. Some of it is a little hard to swallow, but still a good story. BTW, Rome ended quickly because of a set fire that destroyed everything they had built for the show. |
![]() ![]() |
Sensei ![]() | ![]() I did a quick Google search to substantiate that and found nothing. Basically said that it was one of the biggest sets ever and cost $100 million per season to produce, but didn't get good enough ratings to keep it up. I couldn't find anything about a fire - I take that back. Found a story the Italian set DID partially burn, but after it was already cancelled. Maybe just a fraction before it's time? Spartacus and GoT seem to be doing really well now. Can't believe that show ended almost 7 years ago... |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Seems I was misinformed. I did not know the series was already over when the fire occurred. From Rome, the guy who played Mark Anthony, J. Purefoy, is in The Following along with Kevin Bacon. Season 1 was pretty good and I have yet to watch S2. |

I find it hard to watch any network TV series now. I tried to give Person of Interest a chance, but lost interest in the middle of this season. ETA - forgot about The Newsroom. Season 3 starts up again this fall.

![]() | ![]() I really enjoyed The Blacklist. James Spader's character is awesome. The first season was this past winter/spring and is done for now. It's definitely one you need to watch from the start, don't jump in part way through the season. |
