Sometimes a person doesn't realise how much good they have spread by simply being there and offering advice, support and a much needed laugh at the end of a hard day. I admire your generous nature and can only wish you the best journey on becoming a nurse! On those hard days may you remember all of us here who will miss you...hum what would a health care nurse supporter be called...a crutch, a cast, a stiffneck?! Good luck to you and thankyou in the name of all those who hurt for giving some of your time and great energy.

Awesome news Haley!  If I were your age and could do it all over again, that is exactly what I would do.  It's a fantastic opportunity and I'm sure you'll make the most of it.

Joining the Navy back in 1993 straight out of high school was the best thing I have ever done. It turned a knucklehead into a man...well it took time. The countless countries I had the chance to visit, the fact it paid for my BSN, my fire academy and my paramedic school was HUGE. I thought when I got out ( which was four years) I was going to be behind all my peers academically. Crap they were still changing their majors. You made a awesome choice. I salute you. You will kick . The expierience you will gain will only strengthen who you are today. Keep us updated.

Well if BT has to temporarily lose a valuable friend like you, I'm glad it is to aid our countrymen who are fighting to extend the hand of freedom to those who need it most.  I'm only jealous that I can't join you in your most noble endeavor.  Congratulations and take care of yourself.  We look forward to hearing how things are going in a few months.

Thank you for serving.  Good Luck.

If you are stationed at Ft. Wood and want to come over and experience the Lake of the Ozarks and/or the famous Party Cove give me a shout.  It's only about an hour.

Again, Thank you.

What will BT do without you?  Does the Army know what's coming? Burritos, Butts, Poop,  and Jockstrapping.  They are in for an education :-)

Congrats and good luck Haley.  Hope you'll be back soon!

Haley,

Congratulations on your decision to enter one of the noblest professions, and use your skills in an equally noble manner caring for those who protect your freedoms.

Florence Nightingale is widely believed to have been bipolar, and I believe we all have to be a little crazy to enter nursing and do what we do

You will soon be reciting the pledge that has been made countless times in the past 100+ years since it was first made in honour of our lady with the lamp, as my wife and I did almost 20 years ago:

I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.

All the best, and enter this new chapter in your life knowing the most important thing:

Nursing students party harder than anyone else, baby!

It's like I've been saying all this time. There's a war going on, and everybody can't be a p*ssy. I ask myself often, "What are all these 18-40 yr old men gonna tell their kids when their kids learn about Jessica Lynch, Lori Piestawa, and now Comet in school, and they ask..."daddy, what did you do during the war?" I know what i'm gonna tell My son. 8 yrs, 2 combat tours, that's what daddy did.

Best of luck in your new career choice! I certainly admire those who are risking their lives for our freedom. My cousin just left for Iraq and I think about him all the time. This article in today's Fort Worth paper ,http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/news/local/15995089.htm, really made me think about how he is doing over there. He is newly married to a wonderful girl and served as guard for the Tomb of the unknown soldier for a year or so before choosing to serve in Iraq. I pray for his safety and all of those over there.
