Just give him a couple of days for him to edit it, he'll make it avail. Yes, I did record it on my PC but I haven't cleaned it up yet. My copy isn't the best quality. The video came out awefully grainy. It'll take me a while to edit out the commercials and junk. We'll see how big the file is after that. I might have to break it into 2 or more pieces in order to make downloading a little easier. Even though I recorded it I'm still going to pop for the DVD. Like I said, my footage is grainy and this year's offering is exceptional and I'd like to have a nice clear copy. I would recommend the same to anyone that wants quality. I also recored IMFL-06 today and I'll be working on getting that one available as well. It looks a lot better than the video quality of the IMWC-06. Edit: Earlier this year Ironman.com made the Kona-05 footage available via download on their site. Does anyone remember what time of year that occurred? I remember downloading it and then uploading it to my webserver so that folks could get it at a faster rate. I'll do the same for the '06 coverage when it comes available. Thanks - even a grainy copy would be really appreciated, as I don't get NBC and I'm really dying to see the coverage. D |

over a barrier | Subject: RE: Ironman World Championship on TV I enjoyed this year's coverage as well. I have the entire collection on DVD so the Tema Hoyt doesn't really do it for me as they've been featured so many times....same with Sister Madonna. I enjoyed the interviews this year the best! oh desiree....hubba hubba. You can't forget Badmann blowing kisses even though she wasn't going to make the podium! What a great spirit! I enjoyed the Blaze coverage and knew it was going to be a tear jerker as I saw a few rolling across during the race day coverage back in October. I thought they did a great job with that story! I hope to see others 'rolling across' in 2007 throughout the year... |

Master 2485 Atlanta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Ironman World Championship on TV I have watched the recap a bunch of years in a row but I think this was the best ever . . Great balance between the pro finish and human interest stories, IMO. I noticed they just completely glossed over Stadler's behavior at the finish - I know I read at least a couple of accounts of some unpleasantness at the finish, well before and unrelated to his comments about Macca. Highlights - Sister Madonna, who is quite fiesty; Badmann pumping her fists at the finish; The Hoyts, who still blow my mind every time I think about them. Stupid TIVO was recording the thing on the wrong channel - Have to wait for a bit torrent to watch again. c |

Expert 1240 Columbia, MO | Subject: RE: WOW!! joker70 - 2006-12-09 11:43 PM I loved Sister Madonna saying that she was getting annoyed with a man who kept nudging her during the swim and that she thought "I could easily rip off your goggles right now... but then it was as if he heard me because I never saw him again".
I was laughing so hard at that segment it was unreal |

Regular 209 Cheney, WA | Subject: RE: Ironman World Championship on TV Team Hoyt, Team Blaze, Sister Madonna, Major Rozelle, etc. These people and many more are the reason I participate in triathlon. Triathlon is one of the extremely few sports where "regular" people are MORE inspiring than the professional athletes IMO. This is what makes triathlon so wonderful! IMO, the only thing that would have made the NBC Ironman coverage better is if they took out all coverage of Norman Stadler. At least they showed him having his little hissy-fit last year. |

Champion 7821 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Ironman World Championship on TV Finally got to watch it last night (taped). I was disappointed (though not surprised) that they glossed over Stadler's behavior post-race. It's a little disingenuous of NBC to suggest that he was gracious and sportsmanlike towards Macca when, in fact, Norman out and out called him a cheater. Whether or not he was or wasn't drafting, Norman, you won the race. Let the guy who finished behind Macca call him out for it. Other than that, I thought it was a terrific telecast. Since this is my first year in the sport, I can't really recall what it was like watching it when I had no idea what anyone was talking about or who anyone was. But I thought the way the telecast was broken into two halves- first half was about the pros, second half about the "regular people" was great, and really showed that which is most unique about triathlon, the way everyone, regardless of age, talent, sponsorship, whatever, has to test themselves against the same course, and that, ultimately, (this sounds cheesy, but it's true, right?) you're racing against yourself and the course first, and everyone else second. I watched it with my wife, who had this comment: "How come that guy (Al-Sultan) is wearing a women's bathing suit?" |
