Comments: I actually passed the leader in my lane, and was unable to draft off anyone! I was one of the first out in my heat! I could've done more freestyle, and less backstroke, but as they DQ'ed you if you were faster than your estimated time by 2 or more minutes, I decided to play it easy. Next time, I'm going with 11 minutes (or under, if I get really fast this winter!) What would you do differently?: I need more time in the pool. That's about it. Transition 1
Comments: I need a better shirt, other than that, everything went very smooth. My T1 time seems to be in the median, so I'm happy with it. What would you do differently?: NADT Bike
Comments: I had a MTB. Most of the racers had road bikes. I passed a LOT of them! A handful of people passed me, maybe 8 or 9. Once I get a road bike, these guys will be on notice! What would you do differently?: Get a road bike! I'll be going to the LBS this week... Transition 2
Comments: A little confusion at my T2 - I had passed the run exit sign and didn't see it (it faced the wrong way). Once I got going, I was good. What would you do differently?: NADT! Run
Comments: It took about 2 miles to get my running legs - my 3rd mile was fastest and I felt really good. Starting that 4th mile, I knew I was starting to lose steam, but I wasn't going to stop or walk! What would you do differently?: More carb-drink on the bike may have helped. I hadn't trained enough with gels, so I was loathe to eat one at my T2, but I probably should have. I passed on the Gatorade at the stations, in lieu of water so I could dump some on me. Maybe I should grab both next time. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, ate some pizza, caught up with COgirl and Erik. What limited your ability to perform faster: This was my very first TRI! I don't think I COULD have done any better for my FIRST one! Event comments: I have heard some horror stories about previous incarnations of this race, but I thought it was well planned. I obviously have a long way to go with my training, but I think I did darn well. I'm very happy about my placement and my time. Last updated: 2004-07-04 12:00 AM

Banana, yogurt, fruit grain bar, diet pepsi for breakfast. Yeah, but it worked for me!
Walking and some light stretching.
