Total Time = 2h 18m 27s
Overall Rank = 629/822
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 49/76
Pre-race routine:

Picked up race number, got semi-settled, then hung out with Stacie for a bit. Met up with Mel and Shannon, and did a warm up. Hit the port-a-johns with no time to spare.
Event warmup:

Ran with Stacie and Shannon for 6-8 minutes or so. Added in high knees and butt kicks
Run
  • 2h 18m 27s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs felt like lead the last 3-4 miles. Rather unprepared for this race as school has been more important for the past 3-4 weeks!

I ran this race in 2005 with a time of 2:04:44. So I'm out of shape.
What would you do differently?:

Train more. Not go to school. Not apply for a freakin grant. :) OK, kidding.
Post race
Warm down:

Felt like puking. Said hi to the BT group....of which there were a LOT! Good to see everyone.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training, BUT now that my grant is almost done, I'm BACK :)

Event comments:

I'd love an aid station a little more frequently than every 2 miles! But it still worked.

What kind of crap is that?!   You obviously need to re-adjust your priorities.

Keep in mind the season JUST started...and what a season it will be!   I mean crap, have you seen your sked?

Yeah, look at you go!!

That is a fine time considering what's going on in your life right now.  Getting out and racing for any distance is phenomenal...and you did a half mary!!

Hey ... you did awesome.  Congratulations!  I've been following your logs and I'm so glad the grant is almost done and you were able to get outside today and skip!  I'm only up to 6 miles but I'm slowing adding distance and next year I'll be chasing you down the Platte River Trail ...

Yeah, Cathy - I have to agree with some of the other folks above.  Given work, family and school, I'm thoroughly impressed that you manage to get any training in at all.  In fact, now that I think about, maybe you could start dispensing some time management tips

Nice race too!!!

You're an inspiration to all those who say that things are too difficult. Just let them try to balance even half of what you are doing. Next time I think that I'm too busy, I'll look at your calendar for a reality check.

Don't worry, I'm sure this time next year you'll be faster than ever.

I can't believe you just busted out a 1/2 mary! Ha ha - don't you have a little one at home? AND you've been buried in your grant... You rock, in my book. Looking forward to meeting you!

You are such an inspiration and the poster-girl for perseverence. With all that you have going on in your life, you still did this race. I would bet that 99.999% of the population with similar life demands would have bagged the race and slept in, but you were there with a smile on your face. You never cease to amaze me Great to see you, as always (and Erik, Ryan and Tara too) - you have such a cute family!

Way to go Cath!!! My first Mary is coming up too fast. I know I can eek through a 1/2 just under the time limit so we'll see how the full goes. I'm super impressed with your time- you're the best!
