Pre-race routine:

Not much... just a cup of coffee :)
Event warmup:

Not much there either :)
Swim
  • 14m 13s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

OMG, did I ever hyperventilate on this swim, LOL!! It was my first tri and my first OWS, and I couldn't see for sheit with my goggles, argggh!!, snots were running down my nose, LOL...and my hair was falling in my face!! At 100 yards, I removed the sheit goggles and then I could see. At 200 yards, I stopped hyperventilating and actually began to swim, LOL!!
At 400 yards, I was doing much better but dang my arms were tired, LOL!!
but I finished!! I did swim out of the course line a bit here and there, and got called in by the ifeguards, LOL!! I was amazed at how hard it is to swim straight in the oepn water, LOL!! .... but it was way fun, and when I got done with the tri, I wanted to do the swim again!!, LOL!
What would you do differently?:

Oh I would not hyperventilate like I did, LOL!! I don't know why I did, I was just surprised how weak my arms felt and I felt like I couldn't swim, LOL... but I could :) I just needed to calm down a bit and focus which I started to do about 300 yards into the swim :)
Transition 1
  • 14m 13s
Comments:

Well, what the heck took me 14 minutes you ask!! I was dizzy as heck, that's why!!!!!!! I came out of the swim SO dizzy I thought I was going to fall over :( So I walked through T1, sat down and took off my wetsuit and just chilled a bit. There was no way I could ride a bike anyway in that condition, so I just went slow. Once I got my socks and shoes on, I felt better and got out of T1 with the bike :)
What would you do differently?:

Oh I need to work on this transition big time, LOL!! 4 minutes will not be acceptable next time... LOL!!
Bike
  • 43m 10s
  • 13 miles
  • 18.07 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought was ride was good and fun!! I made up alot of time here for the crappy swim time I had, LOL!! I passed about 15 people I think... but I knew most of the 40+ women were ahead of me because I so svcked at the swim!!, and was probably behind most of them at this point :(
What would you do differently?:

Not much different. I think I ran a good ride here.
Transition 2
  • 02m 16s
Comments:

Major improvement from my T1 time, but then I didn't have a wetsuit to strip, and I wasn't dizzy!!
What would you do differently?:

Just gotta work on the speed in the transition. This was my first tri and I was just happy to be doing well at this point :)
Run
  • 29m 41s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

I sub'd 30 minutes!!, I was pretty shocked and very happy!! Going in my legs felt like lead, LOL!! I thought for sure I would be running a 40 minute 5K... but I was suprised to finish just under 30:00. At mile 1, I felt pretty good, and was confident I was actually going to finish the tri, LOL!!
What would you do differently?:

Oh not much... I think as I train more, I will get stronger in the run as I will the other legs :)
Post race
Warm down:

Wish I had had a beer!! No warm down, just some good soda and lots of company from the tri peeps :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Definitely my swim strength. I really need to work on the swim and get some more open water swims in.

Event comments:

I thought it was a great race!! Very organized, the transition area was well organized :) The volunteers were great and very nice!

I was very happy that Tri-Shark was my first tri experience :)

thanks whizzo!!  I couldn't wait to telll you!!, but you were right all along, I definitely need to pick up the training on the swim, and I knew that... but now I really know that!!, and I have to get in that pool alot before 7/22.  I'm going to pick up at week 8 on the 1/2 Ironman training plan and start in the pool tomorrow... and literally follow that plan.  I hope I am ready by 7/22!!

Thanks, you're awesome, and thanks for all your support!!!

Congrats!  BAMBAM66 called me Saturday to ask what your name was, what you were wearing, etc. so she could find you.  Unfortunately, I didn't have good answers to anything.
