  • Comments: It's hard to be objective about the quality of the race when my poor performance overshadows it. I really wish this had not been on DST weekend. I was pretty tired in the morning, and then the race started 30 minutes late. Aside from the tardiness, things were pretty well organized. Post-race food and drink were just getting started when I finished my race. I wasn't particularly impressed, but had I stuck around, probably would have been more welcome. The appeal of this race is that it is very early in the season, and the course is fairly beginner friendly. It's also local to Dallas/Fort Worth, being more convenient to the Fort Worth side of the Metroplex. Weather will always be a wild variable. The pool swim is both good and bad. It's nice for beginners, but can be crowded. I'm not sure I'll do this race again, but not because of how the race was operated. I'd almost rather wait another month to be more fit, to avoid the time change, and to chance the weather being a lot better.

  • Comments: This was my first triathlon, so it's hard to rate the race. I thought it was well organized and the course was well constructed for ease of navigation. The pool was too warm. I would have liked to have seen an aid station on the bike course, but that's mostly because I was stupid and did not carry my own fluid. There was plenty of space for spectators. Several folks from work and church came to cheer me on. That was pretty fantastic. The swag consisted of a pullover and green socks. I like the socks, but the pullover is an ugly shade of green. It probably will not get much use. I think this was a good value race for a first-timer. The other competitors were friendly and the atmosphere was fun. I am glad that I lost my tri virginity with this race.

  • Comments: Crossing the finish line on my first triathlon was really cool, and hearing them call out my name (which I didn't expect) was surprisingly satisfying. One of the coaches for my program was right nearby at the finish, and the volunteers were incredibly friendly and helpful. They helped me turn in my chip and find post-race stuff. Definitely wish there had been volunteers at the bike entry/exit to point it out, as all that was left by the time I got there were some cones. (I had to ask a cop.) All in all, this was a great race for me! I had more fun than I've had in a long time, even though the full swim/bike/run cycle was harder than I expected (and I expected it to be hard). Like anyone, I wonder if I could have gone faster, but I feel like I made good decisions and drew a good performance from myself for the day. VERY much looking forward to my next event. I'm addicted.

  • Comments: This was a good first triathlon for me. The only negative for me was that it was sooooo cold and windy. If the temps were up or the winds down a little more it would have made it a little more enjoyable.

  • Comments: In the past, I have hesitated to recommend Dallas Athletes races. However, this event was much better and seemed to go off smoothly. (Other than the issue with not preventing diving into the pool.) Post race had pancakes (cool!) but only oranges and bananas otherwise. Fuze and PowerAde were providing drinks, and there was a band at the finish. (A bagpiper was playing in the natatorium during the swim, which I really liked.) Schwag included a decent running hat and socks (both with shamrock theme), but I wasn't fond of the long-sleeve cotton race t-shirt.

  • Comments: i thought the race production was great. the bag piper @ swim start was cool and the post race band and events were great. I wasn't quite ready for pancakes, but I saw lots of people enjoying them post-race. There were a lot of racers, but the event seemed to run well. I look forward to doing this race again.

  • Comments: Race results were handled poorly. It took too long to announce awards and when they were announced they were incorrect. It then took too long to post them on the website. Everything else was top notch!
