  • Comments: Great organizing by Setup, the volunteers were fantastic! Beautiful swim. Setup really needs to lengthen the bike course into a 2-lap course before someone crashes. The 200 yds. through the woods was not fun. Big plus having a local race, though. Probably will do it next year.

  • Comments: I like the fact this race so close in Montclair and the lake is wonderful to swim in. The whole 600ish people on the bike course IMO is just too dangerous though, probably won't be back here unless they change that. For the run it wasn't so bad.

  • Comments: This was one of the better set up races in terms of swag and after race food. The event was well run as usual and on time. I liked the course. The volunteers were great and so was the community.

  • Comments: I was hoping to break 2 hours, and I did. My goal was based on the advertised distances, but the run was about .15 miles short of advertised. Even if I add in another minute to compensate, I'm still under 2 hours, so no troubles on that account.

  • Comments: This was one of the best events that Setup has put on. Greg and the group did an excellent job. Awards were pretty sweet too - a nice camping chair with race logo. Something I can use!

  • Comments: Set-up Events always does a good job. It was well organized. I love the shirt that we got for this one! The 3-loop bike course is not ideal since it gets so crowed, but it was doable. The swim and the run courses were great! There was lots of fruit and water available, but I wish they had bagels or something healthier instead of pizza from Domino's.

  • Comments: The 2 mile distance from parking to the start/finish stinks, there's no other way to say it. But what can you do, you are limited in areas to swim, and this is actually a good place to swim. It makes it more critical to remember everything, because going back to the car would be awful! I saw people doing that though. The race day packet pickup line was pretty long as well, did not leave you much time at all to get ready for the race. The course itself is ok for a populated area. Volunteers are great, and the food is endless pizza.

  • Comments: Nice to have a race local to me. I liked the fact that the roads were partially closed off, so it was one less thing to have to worry about. I would definitely do this again, as this is very friendly to athletes of all abilities.

  • Comments: Was a little crowded on course and in post-race. Don't love getting crowded in on the bike. Pizza is not my favorite post-race food.

  • Comments: It's a nice location in general but the bike course is especially limited (4 laps) by the local community and the event parking is well over a mile from the transition area. the overall organization ws good and I think they made the best of what they had to work with.

  • Comments: Great race. Well organized. Beautiful lake swim. Challenging bike course. The run, however, is over the top hard. Too damn hilly! Once you finish it, though, you feel a sense of accomplishment. The race is not that family friendly. It took my family 30 minutes to walk (w/ strollers) to the race site/transition area from the designated parking area at the local high school.

  • Comments: This is a great race, very challenging for a BT! The mile swim and hilly 10k is a great way to prep your mental toughness. Only issue is the 1 mile between the start and parking. Otherwise, recommend this race! Swim course is great!

  • Comments: This race is put on by one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, Shandra Richardson, and it's fun to do her races. Her company, Fins, wheels, feet also does the Virginia Run tri. Shandra won the 25 to 29 age group at Eagleman, although she missed out on the Kona slot because the second overall female took the slot for her age group. She'll be racing at Lake Placid and going for a Kona slot there. The race was organized, started on time, the course was challenging without being too hard and was just the right size. There were plenty of people to race without being crowded. This is a good local race. You see a lot of people you know but you don't get the big exhibits or anything. The only quibble I had was with the start of the run. It's hard to get the legs going while trying to avoid falling down. Luckily the weather cooperated or it could have been an ugly day of racing. We ended up getting 5 inches of rain later in the day. Overall, I'm glad that I did the race and would gladly

  • Comments: THis was a great race, except for the weather. It is really nice to have such a great triathlon less than 5 miles from home. Many people I know were racing and that was fun!
