  • Comments: While there are hiccups with the race, it's still once of my favorite races. Pros Karen was able to get our packets Fun, fast course (with new run course and better bike course) $7 parking, but it's not the fault of the RD as it's the town Cons Started late No numbers on the bike racks (which was fine since we were early) Bike in/out is in the same spot

  • Comments: This is a fun race that's really close to Karen and Mike. It's pretty inexpensive and a fun, fast course. It's annoying that year after year, the run course isn't a full 5k when they have two out and backs. I am also worried when they have zippy security checking bikes leaving the transition area after the race. That being said, I'm sure we will be back.

  • Comments: My goal was to finish the race in less time than my IMLP swim time of 1:15, which was also my finishing time for this race last year. Glad to shave 6 minutes off my time. :)

  • Comments: Disappointed in today's race. Swim was a little choppy so I thought it might be a little slow. Expected way better things out of the bike and run. Felt like I was going hard during and couldn't go harder. Once I looked at the info on the Garmin after the race, I'm not happy with how it went. Not sure what happened today.

  • Comments: Jersey shore multi sports does a great job. They make all competitors feel part of the race. They really seem to care about all the competitors. Highly reccomend anyone to compete in any event they run. Great Job to Chris Wilcox and his support staff.

  • Comments: this is a nice little local sprint. they fixed the issues with no one manning the intersections on the bike, so it was much safer. they also have great breakfast burritos and it's pretty reasonably priced. they still need to work on getting the distances and chips accurate, fixing some potholes in the road, and better security in transition.

  • Comments: Really enjoyed the race, rough bike and dodgy results notwithstanding. For anyone interested in the results check them out here. http://www.jsmultisport.com/race_html/BTT2010/PREOVERALLCOMBINED.ht... If you are interested in why I think the results are way off, just check the top finishers. I do know from talking to my GC Tri friends that the race while small, was deep with some solid talent. If my math is right the winner would have had to average 3:59 to do a 3.5 mile race in 13:59. That's after averaging 27.13 on the bike for 15 miles. 3 sub 4 From seeing his name and results in a few races I know the winner is an excellent triathlete and very fast racer, and this is not to in ANY WAY take away from his accomplishment in winning. I'm merely using his splits as an EXAMPLE ONLY. I'm not sure how this could happen, but it almost seems like the distances in the race were not calculated properly, or folks missed a timing mat somewhere along the course. Overall it is a

  • Comments: Major issue with this race: Very little to none transition area security. With a great number of bikes and people in transition area, there was _no staff_, not a single person, within any distance of the transition exits when I was taking the bike back. Spectators walked into the transition en masse. Anyone could have easily wheeled out _any_ bike -- yikes!!!! Not major but v.v. irritating: Currently (~ 36 hours post race) -- there are no women's age group results -- under the "age group" title, there are all men's age groups, but no women's age groups, there are only the overall winners. Nice boardwalk run and nice ocean swim, which is too bad -- the disregard for female racers and for bike security is appalling.

  • Comments: A great local race I'd do again. Pros: nice shirts, organized and on time race morning, fun course and very spectator friendly, breakfast burritos Cons: unorganized awards ceremony with wrong info, unsafe bike course with a lack of volunteers at some intersections, poor road conditions at some corners, bike course was short, while they had mile markers on the run, the one was facing the wrong way and I didn't see the other. Overall, a great race that I'd do again!

  • Comments: Congrats to Chris and his team as this was the inaugural event of Born to Tri and really enjoyed it. Thought it was well organized (grant it only my second tri). Only comments are change how to start the swim (starter pistol and his voice were drowned out by music), and maybe close off bike course a little better. Thought volunteers were perfectly placed and very helpful.

  • Comments: first the good: - easy packet pickup - great swim and run - organized race morning w/ plenty of parking, port-a-potties, etc. - nice awards - spectator friendly - best breakfast burrito post race food ever. issues: - website was wrong with course distances - timing was a mess with results taking forever and then still wrong and giving medals to the wrong people - the most dangerous bike course in regards to traffic i've ever been on. one section was into oncoming traffic as well as 2 unmanned stop lights! overall, it's a great race i would do again. it actually has the potential and room to grow into a large race. it could be a premier race if they expand a little and fix the bike course/timing issues.

  • Comments: My wife was upset at the lack of police traffic presence near the transition area. She said there were several cars that drove into the race route at this area. The running course was changed at the last minute and I'm sure some folks were unaware of this. Although there were no mile markers on the course the google map run course did contain mile markers.

  • Comments: I know it was first event, so there are some bugs. Needed better traffic control and maybe more racks in transition. Otherwise a great event, nice location, will do it again. Chris and his organisation deserve a lot of credit.
