  • Comments: This race was sold during the off season to V3, a youth triathlon program. The website wasn't up until late and it was pretty sparse. I was worried that the race wouldn't be well run. I think a lot of people thought that too as attendance was low. However, the race went smoothly. On time with lots of volunteers were good. I'm still not a fan of the soggy burritos as post race food.

  • Comments: It was a really well organized race. Volunteers were plentiful. Course felt really safe. Post race there was one water station at the end of the race. Had to keep going back for a cup of water. Would have been nice to have more water stations at the end. Food was a breakfast burrito. I didn't really care for it - I didn't want a spicy, cheese, gooey lump of food after working so hard. Gear West's Kevin O'Connor was grilling hot dogs - those hit the spot. After the race I was exhausted and had a horrible headache. I took a half hour nap in the afternoon but still couldn't keep my eyes open after dinner. The headache lasted into Sunday. I think both are related to over doing. Note 3 women in my age group were in the top 7 of overall non-elite women. How cool is that??

  • Comments: The course is very fast - the lake is nice - All very safe and well organised. Definitely would recommend this race to anyone looking for a fun Tri - I enjoyed the course and the the other competitors were great. It was a lot less mentally challenging than Buffalo due to the course being much less crowded. Post race - lots of happy people and shady areas to relax. Food was only OK although I had heard great things about the breakfast burritos I can't say I enjoyed them - pretty gooey and not much flavor. We were saved by Kevin O'Connor's hot dogs.

  • Comments: I really liked this race. Best post-race food ever... breakfast burritos that were huge and FILLING!!! Really well organized event and a smaller one that the entire family can have an amazing time at. Great race. Definitely will do more Optum races.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too easy

  • Comments: Too many numbers to put on everything, but no number for age on calf sucks. Website got very bare bones when OHP took it over. Transition way too small, 8 bikes per rack was crowded, didn't like having to run all the way around an empty parking lot that could have been used for more transition room. Liked having a vegetarian option for pst race food, big plus for that and the nice swag. Flat and fast course is fun sometimes, and I liked the temp tattoos instead of markers for body marking. What I'm going to remember is the under-utilized transition space, and lack of drafting penalties. Probably had my expectations too high for a race that advertised 2 or 3x MN race of the year.

  • Comments: I enjoyed this race a lot! I ended up leaving before it was all over because I headed up north with family for some holiday fun. I ended up placing 3rd in my age group in the Novice category so I missed out on hearing my name. Bummer. I'll never leave a race early again. I'm done racing for the summer but I might try and volunteer at a few races still this summer. I love this sport!

  • Comments: I feel really good about today. I wanted to come close to last years time or maybe drop a minute or so. I came in more than 3 minutes faster and was faster than last years pace in the swim bike and run (and even in both transitions!) Hopefully get on the podium sometime soon :) Enough of this fourth place business!

  • Comments: This race was great. There were loads of beginners in the race. They even have special awards for the novice division. I got first in the women's novice 24 to 29 age group so I got a sweet beer mug and some organic coffee, not too shabby :)

  • Comments: This is a great race! Very well done and lots of nice little extras. Great BT presence too! So nice to see everyone! As a follow up, I set a new PR in T3 for downing my Like It size of mint chocolate chip at ColdStone. I'm sure it was no more than 1:30. Yummy.

  • Comments: This race gets better every year! The people are friendly and helpful, the cops were great with traffic control. They had lots of post-race food, festivities, and door prizes! I won a spinervals DVD - which will help me go even faster on the bike next year! It was great knowing that we had 23 BTers there! I beat my best bike & run time - woohoo!!! New PRs!!!

  • Comments: Another superb year at MinneMan. Bill does an outstanding job in making sure things go smoothly, and everyone has fun. Perfect weather conditions, too! My only complaint is the ugly t-shirt. I'd gladly trade in the t-shirt and the nice running hat for a technical t-shirt with a small MinneMan logo on the breast or sleeve.

  • Comments: I wish I could have completed this race so bad. It was great seeing the smiles and all the happy b.t.ers after the race. I was extremely happy for you all and am so glad you all had a great race day. The great thing about this is....Heart of the Lakes is only 2 weeks away. Side note. I want to give a big hand to Gear West. I showed up at their very busy facilty and within 30 minutes they had changed my spoke and trued the wheel.Grand total $15.00. Unfortunately he said the next spoke could snap tommorow because of wheel fatigue or I could have many miles left. Said if another one goes it is time to get new wheels. Now that will be on my mind everytime I ride.

  • Comments: I love Minneman. 13/27 in 40-44 age group. I'll take it. 10 places away from hardware! hah... Possible chance that I may miss this race next year :( (son #2 going to scout camp, and I'm GOING WITH HIM!).

  • Comments: This is only my second race and I improved my time. I also felt more organized, less nervous, and better prepared mentally. I wasn't as prepared physically, due to injury and vacation in the last month, but I am psyched to up the training and get ready for Chisago Lakes in July.
