  • Comments: Good race but making everybody drive there on Saturday to pick up a packet is hypocritical if they really want to be green as they promote. They claim it's because of USAT rules but that's a blatant lie. All USAT requires is that IDs are checked and they could do that when passing out timing chips/bracelets. They want people at the expo twice to add value to their sponsors, plain and simple. If they made packets available a few times at sponsor shops around Denver/Boulder before the race and then had a table at the race, they might not have the enormous line to get into transition on race morning since some of those people would be in line to get their packet and that would spread everyone out a bit. I think if Bolder Boulder with 55,000+ entrants can do race-day packets, the 5430 series can also. This issue is why I'm rating the race 4 instead of 5.

  • Comments: I can see why those who have done this sport for so long say that it takes a long time to become proficient. Year two, and I'm still learning, even in a sprint, of how hard to push myself so I still have something left at the end. I felt balanced during the race, but wish I had pushed harder in the bike and maybe in the run, but I don't know my abilities (or lack thereof) enough to know what effect it would have had on the rest of the race.

  • Comments: It's always nice to race in your backyard and with a lot of people you know. I was a bit reluctant to do this as a back to back weekend of racing, but after it was all said and done, I'm glad I did.

  • Comments: Good race. Long lines getting into transition and for the breakfast after the race. They may want to rethink cooking at the race site.

  • Comments: Another great race put on by Barry and Jodee of 5430 sports. Was a bit bummed about the way packet pickup and entering transition went but it all turned out fine. Lots of fast guys and the weather was awesome.

  • Comments: not my best performance. still a fun race though, great for first timers, nice they give finisher medals for a sprint The Plan doesn't account for races, I guess I'll do what I can though. heat stress sucks, when I was gather up my things chatting with another woman, I felt it coming on, & bailed...but it didn't stop the eye-ball popping headache that remained for the rest of the day.

  • Comments: Although my performance was less than stellar (mainly the run) it was still a well organized and fun race. Great to see a lot of people who've been in hiding this spring, and it was nice to be back racing again.

  • Comments: Body marking & timing chip lines slow. Did not open up transition until 10:20 (scheduled for 9:45) due to bikes on course. Volunteers great, very organized. Post race breakfast did not have enough equipment, long lines. Did not stay for awards, etc.

  • Comments: I loved this race and I'll do it every year from now on. It was well run, beautiful, and friendly. I've been scared to race with "the big boys and girls of Boulder" but it was a fun group. It was so nice to have the huge BT contingent there...Ben, Susan, Ted, Ocky, Shannon, Mark, Drew, Dan, Ray, Drew, Melinda, Andria, Rebecca, Julia, Chris, etc...I'm sorry, but I can't remember everyone. We missed Stacie, of course.

  • Comments: I will venture to say that the Boulder series attracts some of the BEST triathletes of just about anywhere. Every agegroup is STACKED. Congrats to my buddy and rival, Mark Dillard for placing 4th in our AG and handing me my ass this week! Also to Julia Purrington for yet another great race and taking 3rd in her age group and to every BTer who raced and to those who came out to support us. I heard my name called "GO DICK DIME" more than at any race I can remember. That was so sweet! Anyway, I'm happy. I'm having a great season and although i would have liked to place higher, I feel like the benefits of this race will be apparent as soon as next week at the Tri The Creek Sprint.

  • Comments: Just a great race all around. SO good to see all the Bt'ers cheering and signing the poster for Stacie and just having a good time at a Triathlon! Perfect weather as well. The only other thing I wanted was to podium! Damn close. Faast dudes out there. I need to remember my main goal in IMAZ. So I am sticking to the plan! Thanks Mr. Ricci. Well planned. I beat last years time by 30 seconds. I wanted 1 minute but I will take it. Looked back at the results and I was bumped up to 4th. I knew I was 4th all along. Somebody must have screwed something up.

  • Comments: For my first real triathlon, this appears to be a very well run event (compared to what I've seen in prior running races). It seems like a good event to start the season for the experienced triathlete, as well as a great event for newbies like myself to give it a go.

  • Comments: It was fun to get out there and see what I could do with all this IM training behind me. And as always it was fun to hang out with everyone. And Julia took 3rd in her AG - she rocks! The swim kind of hurt my confidence going into Germany but I have to remember I'll be taking it a bit easier there. Not good news since I wasn't very fast here but the whole goal there is just to get out of the water.

  • Comments: Overall, I treated this like a long training day. I did race, but didn't push myself to the limit. I wanted to enjoy my race and other than the swim, my mission was successful. It was great to see all the BTr's and was happy we could do the balloon send-off and card for Stacie. I will definitely do this race again sometime, and I will conquer the complexities of the group wave start swim. :) This was a great father's day event for me. My wife and daughter and In-Laws got to come see me race and all had a good time.

  • Comments: I'm very pleased with this race. Hard to believe that I took about 5 minutes off my time and that I'm faster at 46 than 45 (which was faster than 44). Nice to see that something other than my spare tire and hairloss is making forward progress. Barry and Jodee are simply wonderful, and put on an incredible race. It's particularly gratifying to see so many people participating who really are new to the sport. This was the first race that I've attended where I was totally calm, thinking, "OK... I've done this before... a lot... so this is going to be pretty straightforward." I've never been that calm before, and it helps to be so relaxed. Looking forward to the next one!
