  • Comments: Very well run event. I liked the fact that they did chip distribution the night before. Was a 40 minute delay to getting started due to the drunk driver that flipped their car on the bike course just before the road closure.

  • Comments: This was a 24 minute improvement over last year's race. I was thrilled with this. I went all out on this and am very happy with the results. There is also nothing like running a race in NYC, the crowds are amazing and the cheering just carries you along like no other place. I will do this race again and again! I guess my only complaint is that the bike course gets really crowded due to the number of participants. You almost can't help but draft at times despite best efforts not to. I don't know if anyone got any penalties for this.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed the race despite my issues. I think it is a good fun race for everyone to do once (unless you live in NYC, then do it more). The spectators and volunteers were amazing!

  • Comments: This race was run for my wife. I ran for the Life without Lupus charity. My wife came along and tried to cheer me on, but she nearly collapsed from the heat and the effect Lupus has played on her health. In reality, but for having signed up under the charity bib, I would have skipped this race. Now, a couple days out, having caught up on my sleep and the sharp pain / cramp in my right hamstring now reduced to a dull roar, I'm glad we did it. I am very happy with my race and my time. My only regret is not pushing the run harder and shooting for a sub 2:45. This might be one of the only times that finishing time was realistically in reach for me because of my swim time. I don't what, if any, races are in my future. But if this turns out to be my swan song, I'll have finished on a high note.

  • Comments: This was a unique, well organized race from packet pick-up to finish line. I'm not sure if I missed the post-race food or if there was none other than what I mentioned. I had a hard time finding a bottle of water after I left the finish area and ended up getting one from the invite-only Accenture tent at the Finish Fest. The crowd was so big and I was so tired it's all kind of a blur. Will definitely do it again next year.

  • Comments: This is a race that lives up to the hype. Yes, there are lots of people, and yes it’s kind of a logistical PIA, with check-in at the Hilton, bike check in on Saturday, the two different transitions, the finish line being so far from transition, the 1.5 mile walk to swim start, etc. But, overall, it’s an extrodinarily well-run race for the size and scope. The volunteers are great (I’m not just saying that because I was one), the course is the best urban race course in the country, IMO, and there are some really nice amenities and details that make it a unique and fun event. I’m looking forward to racing it again.

  • Comments: I was going to defer, but happy that I did the race. I did 3 min better than last year, but I know I could have done better. I am happy that my fitness level is such that I can do an Oly with almost no training and finish.

  • Comments: I really liked this race. Streets were closed, everything was very organized, and it was a really cool experience. I supposed I do have to say that it is a little frustrating how crowded and tight everything was. I know it's New York City, but it is a little tough trying to maneuver around everyone on the bike. All in all, it was a great experience.

  • Comments: They started late due to weather conditions, this is understandable. I thought it was well organized, although this was my first year doing triathlons and only my second race, so not much to compare it to. Looking forward to next year!

  • Comments: This was my first oly, and my fourth race overall. I had a great time, and enjoyed the race. The volunteers and the crowd were great. Despite my disappointment in my time, I am very proud to have finished. Even though it was crowded, I would do this race again.

  • Comments: Okay - so I make no sense. I don't think there were very good post-race activities, but hey this is New York City. It's not like they have space to throw in a carnival or something. And yes, the bike course was treacherous but that adds to the NYC intense fun right? :-) Only in New York. And the event was not on time because they were trying to wait for weather. So why was this the best race? BECAUSE I HAD SO MUCH DARNED FUN!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED THIS RACE!! I am already thinking how I can do better next year, Lord willing.

  • Comments: This is a great race for fun, but as said above, not the best place to really test yourself and push the limits. It's a great experience and the most unique race I've ever done. It's excellent for first-timers, it was for me last year.

  • Comments: This was a great experience for me, especially for my first Oly. I enjoyed the challenge, I loved the excitement of a "big" race. Just the sight of the transition zones alone is enough to blow your mind. The run up 72nd St to Central Park makes you feel like a rock star! Awesome volunteers everywhere, and extremely well-organized. I trained hard and was glad I had 3 sprints under my belt this year already, but this is not necessarily a good choice for a first race for a total newbie (despite how it may be advertised).

  • Comments: The good news! I beat my previous Olympic distance PR by 6 seconds. So I still went faster. I guess I shouldn't expect 20% time decreases in every race :) Now would I do this race again? I would like to, but I wanna give it a year's rest. The race was one of the best run, if not THE best run that I have done. I had no question that these people and the city NYC know what they are doing. This race was a good trial run and I want to harden myself for another year or two before I attempt this again and really beat my old time.

  • Comments: i will keep this positive, weather was tough, made for a hot sticky day, and time delay. The guys that run this race are pro's, there is a big difference between this race and a local tri, they did an awesome job. Volunteers were everywhere, crowds were electric, they did a great job. awesome venue. tough logistics. i will not do this race again, too much to do to fully enjoy. would i recommend this race to a 1st timer...NO... should you do this race once in your life...Hell Yes..it is NYC baby, nothing bigger or better.

  • Comments: I would have rated it higher if there was a way to make this race safer, especially on the bike. The volunteers were amazing and did a great job.
