  • Comments: I only rated the event as a three as I feel the organizers could have done more to make the bike leg safer, both by giving competitors new to the NYC Tri more specific verbal guidance in the briefing as to passing / road position etiquette and perhaps also by considering a different way to phase the start waves so you didn't get large groups of fast cyclists trying to get past large groups of slow cyclists (but that's a tough call). Overall though, it's in the second best city in the world (after my native London) so it is still a great place to race.

  • Comments: Great race, a little inconvenient from L.I. Many volunteers and fantastic crowds on the run. Would do this race again with more training under my belt. Totally enjoyed it. Great post-race bash, not much to improve on. If only there was a place to w/up for the swim!

  • Comments: This was my first race and I had a blast. The course was challenging, but not too tough. The volunteers were great. The logistics are a bit of a hassle, but that's what you get if you want to race in NYC. I'm planning to sign up next year.

  • Comments: I had a really great time and it was a fun race, but I never got excited in the way I thought I'd be. When I volunteered for this race last year and when I reigstered last fall I was unbelievably excited for this race! In the week leading up to the race I never felt that I excitement...and it never came when I was at the expo...still didn't come when I went to the bike drop off on Saturday and much to my surprise I still didn't have the excitement I expected on Sunday. This is a organized race for the most part, with tons of extremely helpful volunteers (thank you all!)!! But I would not do this race again.

  • Comments: Best race I've ever participated in or been to. A large number of volunteers. They were all helpful, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, supportive and accessible. The race was also the Para Triathlon Championship and I was extremely inspired and motivated to be on the same course with those athletes.

  • Comments: I had a great time. This was the race I went to last year that inspired me to do this crazy sport. I wanted to go head to head with my ex, but he deferred due to a foot injury. I think he was just scared of losing to me. I have no doubt I would have beat him. His bro finished with a time only 7 min shorter than me, and he was a competitive swimmer. I crushed my ex's time from last year by 20 min. As much as I have been mentally drained recently, I think I got a good boost from this race. I am really proud of what I accomplished this year. I never would have thought I could ride a bike that fast. A year ago I didn't even know how to ride a bike at all. I am not a natural athlete, and I will never be really fast at any of the 3 sports. My body is not built for that, but I can get better...and I will.

  • Comments: Love this race despite some mean people (elite/pro wannabes) I encountered out there today. For the most part everyone was in good spirits and supportive. The support crew was the best (thanks Jonah) and the crowds as always were terrific.

  • Comments: I thought this race was heads and tails above the FL 70.3 and I thought that race pretty well done. If I wasn't going to Japan I would definitely be racing NYC again. I'll be back in 3 years.

  • Comments: AWESOME!!! THE BEST PART of all was seeing Tmac finish this race. He was a real champ at entertaining the idea of doing this race...with hardly any training and no training direction...i think he realized it was worth all the 5am, and no Friday/saturday partying sacrifices. We had a lot of fun! loved racing with the hams in NY as well ass seeing all the physically challenged loving humans!! so inspiring...i really love the human race!!

  • Comments: For a race that costs almost $200, the schwag SUCKS!!! Cotton T-shirt, cotton baseball cap, and nothing for women to buy at the expo. They had nice sports bras with 2007 on them, but nothing for 2008. Very, very disappointing.

  • Comments: I would recommend this race to anyone. It was very well organized, great volunteers, cool course. We went up with 12 people from out tri club so it was a great weekend overall. I think part of it for me was that I did not think I could do it because of the calf injury, so just being out there for me was great.

  • Comments: It was a tough day for everyone. Sad to learn that a competitor died during the swim. Still haven't decided if the race director should have announced the jellyfish issue (he didn't). Overall, it was well organized like always. My favorite race of the year.

  • Comments: I thought the race was a first class event. The volunteers were awesome, the course was tough, but amazing. The logistics to putting on an event of this size in NYC must be staggering and they really did a great job. I am looking forward to next year. Hopefully no cramps and no jelly fish!

  • Comments: Will probably come back next year and try it again. The run course is just fabulous and made up for the blandness of biking the West Side Highway, and swimming in the dirty hudson. Good race.

  • Comments: I wouldn't recommend this race. Seriously, for a non-new yorker, the logistics are terrible. I had a much better time even with flying my bike and renting cars. This was just really stressful and a lot of money. It didn't help being by myself either, or the heat, or the jellyfish. Maybe if you are from NYC or live there, you'd love it. I did love running in central park but getting lost going back to transition? I just think they really needed to help us out of towners a little more, and possibly helping us with parking at the expo. Oh, did I mention I saw Andy Baldwin, the bachelor? My mom is so funny. she kept comparing my times to Andy Potts and Andy Baldwin. She was amazed that I wasn't much off of the bachelor. :) And I told Andy Potts that since he was at my last 3 races, he must be stalking me. :) he's really tall! and a super nice guy. I LOVE doing these uber big races....the chance to see all of my "heroes" of triathlon, like Emma Snowsill, Greg Bennett, Craig Alexander,
