  • Comments: This is a great early season sprint tri with enough difficulty to keep it interesting. It is a shame that this is the last year of the race. Hopefully, someone else will pick up the race venue and host future races.

  • Comments: I really enjoyed this race. The terrain around Lynchburg really adds to the challenge of the sprint distance. I wish that there could be something done in order to have you swim uninterrupted but with a 6 lane 25m pool and not everyone having good estimates for their swim time it probably could not go much better than it did. Its a fun event, scenic course and friendly people. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an early season sprint and is not two worried about setting a PR on this course.

  • Comments: Another good Angels Race. It is my "home" race. Will be doing these as long as I'm able. I improved in EVERY leg and both transitions over last year. Yep, I'm happy.

  • Comments: Will be back next year! I was really happy to see a spread of ages and abilities here. This is a small market triathlon and feels that way (which is good). You'll see some of top end bikes and serious athletes, but many more folks who just want to spend a morning swimming, biking, and running on whatever they can. I also really like that the course has so many different attributes to it - downtown areas, rolling hills, tunnels, etc rather than a loop around the suburban neigborhood. All the volunteers were great and the race felt well run. Thanks to the staff and volunteers for making it happen!

  • Comments: I was expecting the worst from the weather, but it was just a light drizzle and cool. By afternoon (in Afton), it was awful, but we dodged one this morning. As always, this is a great race and well organized. I've met a bunch of nice folks down there. Saw Stacy (from Salem race), Mari (from last year's race), met Jen and Dallas (way to go, guys!!). Mari introduced me to Steve Bozeman, world record holder for double ironmans. That was a real treat. Super nice guy - is holding a biathlon on April 30th. Would love to go, but probably won't be back home yet.

  • Comments: was surprised that after the race, the organizers didn't do any bike security. Other events I have done had people to match your race number to your bike number to deter stolen bikes. I hate to think anyone would steal a $5,000 bike (not mine btw) but it does happen. I would never leave my bike unlocked while out on a 5K run.

  • Comments: As always, Angels Race is one of my favorites and I'll always plan on doing it. You race in memory of an "Angel" - this year I raced in memory of Pam and Connie, and in honor of Elizabeth, who I just found out was in the hospital with a mild heart attack. Get well soon, Eliz. Anyway, the town totally supports this race and the majority of people in the race say "good job", etc. when they cross your path on the bike and run. It is a really wonderful atmosphere. Thanks for another great race! [Post getting the splits. My swim was slightly faster than last year and I was totally coasting. From here on out, no push on the swim. Did a little better in T1 than last year, but lost it on T2, so a push there. Improved about 1 min on bike, 2 on the run. Last year, I still was biking with cages, so my improvement there might have been all equipment. The run was the big improvement, but still by far my weakest. Now I'm up against the 150 lb lean guys... they can truck on the run. Guess

  • Comments: This was my first triathlon so I cant complain about my performance. Now I know what to expect and what I need to improve on. Lots of volunteers on the course to cheer you on. I will for sure be back next year.

  • Comments: The volunteers are the absolute best! Lot of them all over the place with clappers to keep you moving, running with you up hills and shouting at you to keep moving, they really make the race.
