But when I was about 26 and my wife was pregnant with our first child I decided it was time to sell the bike. Fast forward 25 yrs or so. I was in Seattle on business for a few weeks and a buddy of mine and I rented Harley's for weekend. Scared the hell out of me riding in the city with 6 lanes of traffic doing 70 to 80 mph. But I really enjoyed the ride after I got out of town. So recently I bought a hog! A used 2013 HD Super Glide Custom Dyna, 96 cu-in (1573 cc). It only had 2,200 miles! I still don't feel comfortable riding in the city but I've been enjoying the rides out in the country. A few years ago I was on a bike (bicycle) ride and got t-boned by a Cadillac as I came into an intersection. So now my biggest fear is being tee-boned on my motorcycle. I'm taking a riding class in a few weeks to help me build confidence. Any motorcyclists here? |

In Washington, all motorcycle licensing is now done through the schools -- the DMV has given all authority to them for testing and training. I sold my Suzuki SV650s a little over a year ago. I do miss it, even though I wasn't putting a lot of miles on it. I'll get another one in another year or so -- the little one will be legal to ride on the back in two years and two months... |

Member 326 | Subject: RE: Do you have a motorcycle? I have a motorcycle that I haven't ridden in a few years. I bought an Acura NSX and that was my summer fun toy. I just sold the NSX so I am bringing the motorcycle back out. When I get my new Ford Focus RS the motorcycle will go back into storage, unfortunately. Insuring 2 cars and a motorcycle gets expensive in socialist, only one option for insurance, Manitoba. I have a 2008 Honda CBR. A little crotch rocket to have fun with. I am really wanting a cafe racer style bike. |

Champion 10668 Tacoma, Washington | Subject: RE: Do you have a motorcycle? I keep thinking about the "next bike"... I really like the styling and feel of the Triumph Thruxton. But on the practical side, the later crop of 300 and 400cc bikes makes a whole lot of sense for me. But there's the Ryca CS-1 cafe conversion (a Boulevard 650 converted to a cafe). Might be just the ticket. |

Started out on an 80 cc dirt bike and moved up to a 125. Bought a Kawasaki Ninji in the Army, but sold it to help pay for college. After getting set with a career and home I was looking at getting a classic street bike, but along came kid number one. I would like to get one, but it is off the table now after losing a family friend in an accident as well as an aunt and a neighbor both having life altering injuries in other accidents. In all 3 cases it was another driver who was at fault. Have fun and be safe. |

Pro 4578 Vancouver, BC | Subject: RE: Do you have a motorcycle? Timely. My SO has a Honda CBR 750, a honda road/dirt bike and his dad 1960s (?) Royal Enfield. We recently when touring on the 750 and while I had fun I'm not really a passenger, so he's fixing up a honda cbr 125 for me as unfortunately all his bikes are too big for me. I'll be taking the course soon. Well probably once race season is over. |

Had a Honda Hawk, sold it when we had kids & now have been considering bringing up the subject with my wife. Back when I sold bike I made a deal with my wife to get some dirt bikes when the kids were old enough. Then however, triathlon intervened & I started buying bikes powered by humans. Enjoy your new ride! |

Lethbridge, Alberta | Subject: RE: Do you have a motorcycle? I haven't ridden for quite a while now, but did when I was younger. I had a few hours practice on some borrowed dirt bikes before i bought my first bike to learn on. That was a used and modified '72 750 Kawasaki, one of the old 2 stroke triples. In retrospect, a saner bike might have been more appropriate for a beginner but I had a lot of fun and survived. The Kawasaki was eventually sold before I got a new '85 Yamaha FJ1100. I put in a lot of miles on that one and some long trips too, before I got married. |

Veteran 1900 Southampton, Ontario | Subject: RE: Do you have a motorcycle? Do I have a motorcycle? Yes, well kind of, I dont know. I bought a bike 4 years ago, a little KLX250S as I have a lot of trails in the area. I also use it to get to work. Unfortunately on my last ride to work a hellacious noise developed. I brought it in right away and the bike apparently shredded a bushing in the starter motor. I was quoted $400 to fix it which isnt too bad but after they put humpty back together again its still making a lot of noise. They are suspecting that something got into the engine and might have taken out the crank bearing. Mucho $'s to get into it, +$2000. Despite it being only 4 years old I have put 37000km on that little 250 and they dont think its worth fixing. Im not sure what options I might have - I need to buy a new car soon (that one has 345,000KM on it). I might need to take 1 year hiatus from motorcycling - I am a little depressed by this.
