Champion 10471 Dallas, TX | Subject: I have a picture of me getting dropped on a group ride! Share your pictures! So last weekend I was barely able to keep up on my group ride. I was struggling big time. This picture was taken about 10 miles into the ride. Yes, it was a sucky ride from hell. One of the riders takes pictures of the group... and he was at the top of the hill taking a picture of the group. All right, look far back from the group, there is a tiny dot next to the that tree/bush. Yep, that tiny little dot. That's me. That's what it looks like when I get dropped from the group. The group is together. I am WAY in the back. Being left by the group to ride alone. Don't get picture gems like this too often! In fact, it's my first picture of me getting dropped in 5 years of riding! Anyone else got some "no so impressive moments" pictures to share? |

I've only beaten Sherri in a race once out of about the 7 or 8 we've run in at the same time. She's pretty damn awesome! I did not know who the older guy was. |

I can't even ride well enough to go with a group..... yet. I have a friend who did my first Tri with me and he did it on his mountain bike with nubbies and I had a hybrid. He loved the Tri so much that he said we should join a Tri group! He can be very naive and I had to laugh because our average speed out biking is like 12 mph. I can just see us trying to keep up with a group with any dignity. But that's ok because it can only get better from here. And if I'm still hooked after my next two Tri's, I may buy myself a Christmas present! |

A picture of me getting dropped on a group ride would be rare also, but only because I've never had a picture taken at a group training ride. So, is it rare that you were dropped or rare that it was photographed? |

So, is it rare that you were dropped or rare that it was photographed? I needed to specifiy... it was rare that a picture of me getting dropped was taken... not that I was getting dropped. I get dropped on my group rides on a regular basis. If it weren't for stop lights, I would end up riding alone, vs. 1 mile back trying to catch them. HA! Anyways... it's a fact of life for me. I'm OK with sharing it... because it's just FUNNY!!!!! |

We have some group rides for people who do a 12 mph average. Tri clubs... well they probably have people who ride at a faster mph average. So you might be best served looking for a local cycling club. I ride with my cycling club. Eh, I don't mind sharing the photo. It happens (for me- all the time). I thought it was funny! |

BT won't let me insert the pic nicely, but here's one of me after a supposedly fast, flat, PR-setting 5K. Unfortunately the heat got to me, I bonked, and finished about two minutes later than I wanted to. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=12938&photoid=108740 Here's one of me coming out from a disasterous swim in my first tri on Monday. One of my friends commented that I looked like I was about to hurl! LOL! http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/photos/show-album.asp?albumid=12938&photoid=108741 |

I'm just laughing at the "getting old manned" line... when I"m passing people at the end of any race if they are younger than me, I tell them "don't let this old man beat you" if I can breathe enough to talk at least. |

Ha! Mee too, except it's "You're not going to let a fat, old, bald guy beat you, are you?" Young guy last week, about 500 yards from the finish, said, "Well yes, yes I am!" |

LOL Just Kidding! |
