Based on some questions like height, weight, blood pressure, drinking, if you smoke, did drugs, etc, it will help predict your age. Not sure how scientific but it was pretty cool.

It said I would drop dead at 68.

HA!  Guess again.  86 for me and, if I lose the 30 pounds or so that I would like to, it only gives me another year.  Hmmmm...decisions, decisions, decisions.

96 here!

I'm signing up for the next 50 years of tris! Losing 40 pounds only gets me two years. Gotta wonder if it's worth it. Not crashing my car was worth a year. 'spose I should drive more carefully...

This age prediction 'game' is offered by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Financial entities in the United States are bound by very strict privacy laws about personal information, and that's if you even have to enter any information. On this page, they don't ask you for any personal information regarding name, address, or email address. How will they spam you if you never entered an email address?

And all websites, including BT, use cookies. I think you have a legitimate concern but I'm about 99.99% sure that this is not the case here (especially after reading their online privacy statement).

Pehaps the one by the insurance company is fairly legit. But think of it...why do they hire someone to post these pages on the web, basically "free"? What is their return on their investment? They want you to surf to their site, buy their insurance, etc.

There is no free lunch. Yes Mom, I do run Spy-Bot (daily).

As an IT application/software developer in the industry for around 10 years who currently develops websites for a large consulting firm, I think there's a misconception or negative stigma which is attached to internet and a blur between legit and non-legit websites. Not every website is out to get spam you, just like not every mechanic is out to rip you off.

If you look at most banking and investment websites, like washington mutual or bank of america, they all have "free" calculators which predict rate of return of an investment or predict rate of retirement or stuff of this nature. In this specific case, it states their purpose: "Use these free interactive calculators to estimate or compare many aspects of your financial welfare. You'll find calculators to help you determine your insurance needs, retirement funding requirements, and your college savings budget. These tools can help you get a jump start on a secure financial future."

Now, if you think these companies normally are shady, then that's a different thing. But to think big companies like Toshiba, SBC, GTE, Vanguard, Washington Mutual and other company websites that may offer some sort of free service like calculators that calculate home mortgage payments, are spammers or spy distributors, I think you are dead wrong.

But it is smart to have a spyware program, virus checker, and personal firewall running on your machine.

One of my goals is to live long enough to win an age group, probably the 90-94 age group.  Another site to check out on this topic is www.realage.com .  Their test is quite a bit more in depth.  It proves that triathlon takes years off your life... no wait, that's not right.  It makes you seem younger than you are (better )

I'm dubious. I scored an 87 which is exactly 40 more years than my father lived and only one of the men on his side of my family out of quite a few made it past 70. Even though I now live a radically different lifestyle than they did, I don't see this practically doubling my life expectancy over my progenitors.

OTOH, if this thing is any where near accurate, the 80-84 age groups are gonna get pretty competitive!
