Champion  10020  , Minnesota Bronze member |  Subject: Who is at work today?My workplace is basically a ghost town today, but I came in due to insufficient vacation days (hoarding for a real vacation). Judging by the general lack of rush hour traffic, I am guessing that's the case at most businesses. Who else is at work and why? Personally I don't think I could sit at home any more after the long weekend... The time alone at work is rather refreshing. I am a typical introvert in that way. |

I'm finishing up online traffic school to get a ticket dismissed, and catching up on the little things at work. I'd love to be out hiking, running or snowboarding... but I'm here to get paid. |

Master 2083 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Who is at work today? all day today. Small office so I have a deal worked out with another employee that I take Thanksgiving and they get xmas. It's DEAD all week between xmas and NY in my industry so I work it every year. It gives me a chance to close out some end of the year stuff, goof off (which is welcome after I finish all my budgets I'm generally on the verge of burnout), and generally relax. I like it. |

I should probably stop surfing BT to get that done! I'd rather be home with the fam, but need to save the vacation/sick days.

And...being HR....I'm here. We did have a HUGE snow storm (well....for Texas) and the roads are sheets of ice. My normal commute is 15 minutes. Today it was about 30 minutes and that's without any traffic and making all the lights. I'll be doing some on-line shopping and gift card redemption today though, opposed to working. |

Plus, trying to get some projects out the door before the end of the year. And finally, I have a house full of in-laws. I was dressed and off to the office before anyone else was awake. They leave tomorrow - but it would be too conspicuous if I slept on the couch here at my office. |

This is funny to me as I have a coworker who went to her parents/in-laws in Austin this week. They live outside Cambridge, MA. It's a nice and sunny day here today :D . OK, it is about 25... Out of the 12 in my office, there are 4 of us in today. Easy commute too. |

Good chance to get a lot done and since my wife is a teacher she gets the time off to spend it solo with our son which she never gets to do, so it works out for all. However every year I wake up on the 26th and kick myself for not taking it off. |

Leaving at noon to do a volunteer even at the women's shelter but that counts as work. I usually do not take this week as vacation. Since everyone else does I can come and go as I please. |
