The threshold has been crossed when I look at the 25 yr old and think, "he's just a kid"...and I'm in early 30s. Graying men are distinguished, right? Now I try to look for shoes that are comfortable and stylish. I blame it on training though, not on getting old. |

They got married, their son was born in the spring of our freshman year, and they all lived together in the on-campus housing unit for student families until he graduated. Their son just finished his freshman year of college last month. Hearing that made me feel incredibly old for some reason. |

Such as....being the only one in the room to remember life BEFORE THE INTERNET*. I actually had an undergraduate as me how we found articles before JStor. He actually thought that academic publishing before the internet/electronic databases was just.not.done.Like we were using Gutenberg or something. He was blown away by the fact that we had to use card catalogs and subject indexes. And type on word processors. Nice kid, just not that bright at times. And only some of the stuff the younger one does. A few years ago, I took them to Bonaroo as a graduation trip for the older one. I think I had heard of only a fraction of the groups playing. The only saving grace for me is that they are both into "old music" - Simon and Garfunkel, Beatles, Hendrix... |
