Well it could be worse. I am not sure exactly what happened but I do remember flying over the top of my bike. I landed on my arms and face. The right side of my face is all stitched up and I have a cast on my right arm. Probably a hairline fracture. Both arms hurt like hell. Somehow I also hit my head as you can see from the back of the helmet, but I had a CT scan and it was normal.

I am really lucky that I was following some experienced riders who called an ambulance and waited with me. I was in shock and bleeding pretty good, as my glasses sliced above my eye.

The bike has one scratch as far as I can tell! It was initially missing, and I was really upset, but the ambulance guys had put it in the ER staff room, and it was recovered this morning.

Normally people use their brakes to stop and not their face.

Glad you're okay....and it wasn't a ton worse.

No clue on how it happened?  My last crash was like in super slow motion and I seem to remember every second of it.

It felt like the front brake locked up or the front wheel went into a pothole, based on my launch trajectory.

Make sure you take some milk of magnesia with that Percocet or you'll regret it in about 5 days, LOL.

Hope you heal up quickly and glad you weren't hurt any worse!

Hope your path to recovery is a smooth one!

Same thing happened to me on 8/2/12.  I hit on the left side of my face but took the brunt of the damage to the mouth.  Sheered 4 teeth off at the gum line.  One tooth fractured under the gum line but was still hanging.  They had to pull that one.  I got stitches, on the upper lip and some inside the mouth as well.  Road rash on the left side of the face, and they glue stitched above my eye.  Concussion and whiplash. I had to have 4 root canals. Helmet cracked.

Only damage to the bike was to the left brake lever, it was sheered off.  Other than that, not a scratch.

Alone but it was on the path about 2 miles from my house so lots of people around. Really good ride up to the point where I crashed. I am looking forward to seeing the heart rate data!

Holy cow man. Heal well.

And if car accidents usually happen close to home, no surprise with a bike.

DAY-HEM that's harsh!  So sorry to see this.

Take care and seriously lay low for several days.  Watch for persistent headaches, blurry vision, nausea, and forgetting things.  You might also have some head trauma and residual concussion effects.

That was quite a nasty spill you took there.  Heal up fast!

Dang, heal up Brian.  On the up side, you can flip this as some type of MMA fight injury and use it to score some chics!
