A friend told me that the ending indicated that there will be a new James Bond. I did get that from the ending. Is that true?

As in, "A new James Bond movie?"

Almost assuredly.

As in, "A new James Bond."

probably not yet, but possibly.

A friend of mine (who's a big Bond nerd) has always had the opinion that both "007" AND "James Bond" are code names, making it possible for there to be different Bonds. (Which does work out better for the movies considering different actors)

I hope so.. Daniel Craig always looked too tortured and sad. I think James should be like teflon... Pierce Bronson was my fav.

I just watched it on Friday. It definitely left open another movie, but I didn't see it as a new Bond. It could have though with the other changes that were made.

I so disagree. I adore Craig as Bond - the right combination of slick and tortured

Daniel Craig is right there with Connery for the best Bond.

Great combination of toughness, recklessness and compassion. He's also true to how the character was written-- looks great in a tux yet seems somehow uncomfortable wearing one, as though he doesn't enjoy mixing with the upper crust.

He's also stands only 5'10", offering a true role model to economy-sized white guys everywhere.

I've no idea how the character was written. Never read the books. To me Bond was about women, fighting, gadgets and unreal situations.

To me, the ending was a way to get back to the "classic" Bond style movie formula with Ms. Moneypenny, the padded door meeting with the head of intelligence for briefing on the villain and plot.

I think Craig is great as Bond, maybe the best ever. Dang he's good.

Every Brit man walks out of a Bond film thinking he's at least 1% 007.

To me, Bond is a ruthless, calculated killer who will do whatever is necessary to achieve his goal even if that means going against his employer.  He is also a chameleon who can blend into any scenario or situation regardless of comfort level.  And, although he seems to get along with the ladies, really has no need for meaningful friendships or relationships.

I think Daniel Kraig fits this role best.  Roger Moore?  Not so much.

That will be 5 cents please.

Most of the movies end the credits with:

"James Bond will return in xxxx"

I haven't looked at the end of Skyfall for it though.

Funny anecdote, at the end of The Spy Who Loved Me, it ends with Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only.  However, because of Star Wars, the next movie actually was Moonraker.

  1. Connery
  2. Craig
  3. Dalton
  4. Brosnan
  5. Lazenby
  6. Moore

But some of my favourite movies are Moore movies lol.

I agree with your list mostly, except I would put Brosnan ahead of Dalton.  And some of my favorite Bond movies have Moore as well.  "Live and Let Die" and  "For Your Eyes Only" are my favorites.

Netflix has a cool documentary: Everything or Nothing:  The Untold Story of 007.  I just finished a trainer session while watching it.  Learned a lot about the history and turmoil that went into making the films.

To me, the ending was a way to get back to the "classic" Bond style movie formula with Ms. Moneypenny, the padded door meeting with the head of intelligence for briefing on the villain and plot.

I think it was a nice way to set up and segue the series. Remember, it started as a re-boot - we had the same M as the Brosnan Bond, but it was as if there was no Bond. They used the original book (Casino Royale), and took from the brutal asocial Bond with few human attachments (and the one woman he ever loved turns out to be a traitor, and then dies - true to the books). We get to bring in Moneypenny, with enough of a backstory that we can see the history between her and Bond that leads to the banter they will have in the future.

I have heard that theory before that Bond is also a code name - it was actually the plot of the first Casino Royale movie - which was a comedy where Bond tries to confuse the villians by having a bunch of Bonds running around. But I don't believe it. There is a series of code names - M, Q, the 00 series of agents. No need to have names.

**possible spoiler**

I have different question about the ending; what was it? I watch most of the movie on On Demand while on my trainer but stopped right after the house blew up and the "good guys" all ran through the secret passageway. What happened after that? I tried to go back and resume watching but the movie kept restarting from the beginning.
