Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data Alright folks. Here's the deal. This thread is for data only - and eventually results. Let's keep the trash talking in the other thread. REPEAT - NO TRASH TALKING IN THIS THREAD. Do this favor to help make collecting the data easier. Post here or inspire me or PM me, whatever, the following information about yourself. I'll put together a list that Birkie and others can use to handle the results calculations. We'll also learn a little bit about each other. This is usually considered a good thing. 1. Real name - first names only, initials, whatever you want to use is ok. Example: Me. John

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data Some people might be funny about last names. ID security. We'll get bib numbers later so its not necessary now. Of course, if they send it to me directly I'll have it and not post it when we post the spreadsheets. |

Expert 789 Lake Forest, Illinois | Subject: RE: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data I'll kick it off for the slow peeps. 1. Joshua...and if you look to the left you can probably figure out my full name 8) 2. Can't remember if I reged as Clyde or M30-34 Probably Clyde (215lbs) 3. Work in Lake Forest, Live in Round Lake/Mundeline. I'll be driving up the morning of the race. 4. Goal time...hmm...well I was originally using this not as a race but as a training indicater on my way to Ironman WI for next year. Honestly I will be satisfied to finish without injury, mildly pleased to break 7 hours, and happy around 6.5 hours. 5. First Half Iron 6. I feel good about the swim, I'm fairly slow (1:50-2:00 per hundred meters) but I'm steady and can hold that pace the full distance. I feel solid on the bike. I know I can cut some serious time by hammering the bike but I'm worried about setting myself up for a poor run. I'll take this as it comes on race day. The run is my key limiter. I'm slow at 27minute 5k pace and expect to average 10.5-11mm on the run. This really isn't my A race for the year. My A race will be Naperville a few weeks later where I hope to knock a solid 10 minutes off my sprint time. This is more of a B race to see if I like the distance and want to attempt an Ironman. I am taking the approach that the first time at any distance I am feeling it out. I won't be really racing it until the second time. |

First is a month before in Grand Haven. Looking forward to my first big tri event. This will easily be double+ the size of any other race I've participated in. Also looking forward to finally hooking up with the BT crowd in person. I'm feeling really good about my training at this point and am hoping for a solid finish. |

Crystal Lake, IL | Subject: RE: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data Ok. Here's the deal. I'm making a list in the goals section of my log of everyone for both races. Hyperlinks included so you can just jump to any of your respective team mates or the opposition for inspires and trash talking. Also, I know there are people registered for each race that have not jumped into the challenge. If you get word to these people let them know if I should add them to the list. If something has changed and someone should not be on the list let me know that too. |

It's my 3rd time doing this race though. 6. Last year was 4:59, and I think I can take at least 10 min off that this year ( unless we end up with crazy conditions like 2005 ). |

I'd like to break 6 hours. I think I have it in me. Anything better than last year would be moderately acceptable. (Better than 6:15) 5) This will be my 3rd HIM, second time @ Racine. 6) Training is going well, I feel good, knee feels good. |

My goal time is sub 6, but 6:30 is probably more realistic for me! 5. First HIM 6. I need to get in more cycling minutes!!! I am feeling waaay behind... and I also need to work on nutrition on the bike. Other than that, I'm feeling good about my training. |

over a barrier | Subject: RE: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data 1. Hayes Sanborn - Team SoR 2. M 30-34. 3. Chicago's Roscoe Village 4. 5:45 5. Second HIM, first at SoR 6. I went 6:16 in my first half last fall in FL, which included a complete melt down on the run. I'm looking for 5:45'ish. My Goals are Sub 30 swim, 3hr bike, and 2hr run. The swim time might be tough given the chop in the lake. I went under 30 in Florida but the lake didn't even have a ripple. I went 2:59 on the bike on a completely flat bike course and 2:35 melt down on the run. I think I can produce the same bike split on a hiller course and hope to have the pacing down to cut 30 mins off the run....My fitness is at an all time high and I've very excited about the race!!!! I'll update after I dig up my reservations. 4. I'm hoping to come in under 6.5 hours, but running is killing me right now. I'm trying to come back from a winter hamstring injury and it's slow going. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to back down and just do the swim/bike portions. 5. This will be my 1st HIM Edited by devilwillride 2007-05-16 12:49 PM |

Extreme Veteran 484 McHenry, IL | Subject: RE: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data 1. Real name: Steve Emmert 6. Anything else you want to say about this race: I predict headwinds this year, regardless of which direction you're riding ;-) I kid you not that the first year they ran this race, under the name they should'a kept - The Dairyland Triathlon - we had headwinds on the way out on the bike, then the wind shifted and we had headwinds on the way back, too. Oh, and it'll be a family get together of sorts for me again since my brother is racing too, assuming his foot heals by then. Edited by Steve in IL 2007-05-16 10:13 PM |
