Member 2098 Simsbury, Connecticut | Subject: RE: Manatees Dooo Eeeet!!! Originally posted by BlueBoy26 Good news. We won a bib yesterday for a house. My wife saw it pop up as a new listing and spent all day trying to get ahold of our realtor. The relator finally got back with her late that night and said she would try to set something up for us to see it that weekend but when she got with the selling agent they said they had 10 viewings the first day and 10 offers so they wouldn't make a viewing appointment with us. They did let our relator go over and do a video with her phone to send to us. So we made an offer $15K over list an hour later. The sellers debated for 4 hours between our offer and another offer, but we got it. My wife and kids drove 6-1/2 hours down this morning to see what we are buying. They will be there for home inspections tomorrow and then drive back. I am so happy to be through that. I will have two tracks within a mile of where I live as well as a community lap swimming pool. I think the closes place to do any outdoor cycling like I am used to is about 25 minutes away (no bike lanes or shoulders on any of the roads closer than that). I have already found about 30 Strave Segments within a few miles of me. Things should be exciting. So I am giving up long open roads for cycling but gaining lap swimming pools, 400m tracks, and Strava users on the same running paths as me. That is insane!! Congrats on your win |

Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Manatees Dooo Eeeet!!! Originally posted by Micawber It took a while, but I just noticed your location Chris. An uncle of mine has a place in Englewood and, in a normal year, spends the winter there. I was there for a visit just over a decade ago, and during the visit my wife and I took a day trip up to a park in Orlando too. Nice country around there! Thanks. One thing that I have found odd about my little piece of paradise is how many Manatees have been here or the immediate area. For a town that is out of the way and as small as it is, it is just weird. We've been known to go to a park in the Orlando area as well |

Thanks everyone. This felt more like a Long Course Triathlon where you get to the end and you don't care if you won or came in last place. You are just happy to be done. I looked at the CR's and KOM's on those Strava segments and I don't think I will be seeing any other wins any time in the foreseeable future so I will take this one and be happy. |

Proof of Life post and a reminder to update the spreadsheet --- I am doing the weight loss challenge and was pleasantly surprised that, while I haven't lost any weight, I haven't gained either. I'm also doing Dry January (abstaining from alcohol for a month). I don't drink a lot --- I'll have 2 glasses of Chardonney with dinner several times a week --- but I'm hoping to jumpstart some weight loss. So far so good and I'm definitely feeling stronger on my rides. |

ARGH, that is some cold water!!! How can you find the Florida locals on the beach in February? They're at home. Last week there were two triathlete ladies on the beach here in Madeira Beach --- they were in their wetsuits and had just finished a swim. They said the water was waaaaaaayyy too cold to be in there, even with the wetsuits. |

Bonus was when I hit the scale this morning and was under 220 for the first time in a while. I say a while because I'm not sure just how far back into last year I have to look to find 219. 2020 was not kind to my waistline. Good luck with Dry January, one more week to go. |

I updated the sheet except for my Distance Traveled/Hours completed. I'll update that page on Mondays since all my logging programs use a Monday-Sunday week, that will keep things simple. I did manage to get four days of mobility work in. I'm not sure how much I like the McMillian mobility program and I may try The Ready State when this subscription is up. I've been pairing the mobility with either core work or a short yoga session. For the Keep on Moving, I am targeting 10000 steps a day. Today will be day 125 of my step streak. I'm not sure how long I care to keep that going. Last time, I got to 100 days and got bored with it so I purposely skipped a day or two. Then this streak started. Kevin subscribe to a wine club so no dry January for me ;-) |

I'm not keen about cold water but I've been doing it all my life: When I was a kid in school in northern Ontario, grade 7, our class spent some time out at a camp towards the end of the school year. The camp was located on "Ice Chest Lake". There was a sauna on the beach for those who wanted to warm up before or after swimming. On the first day at camp, the principal asked for a volunteer to swim out and dive for the raft anchor. Guess who volunteered? And no, the sauna wasn't heated up yet. At least the year I was there, I thought the Gulf was fine. |

It was quite helpful, so I stopped using it and promptly found myself in PT! I really need to get back to it! I don’t know how you keep all your streaks going. Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees Dooo Eeeet!!! Sigh....can basically never do an 8:30 Manatee meet, unless I have to resign, which could happen basically at any time with a few weeks notice. Don't get me started--great chaos under heaven here. The governor moved the re-opening benchmarks back again (now we can re-open even if one in 300 people is actively infectious with Covid) but they are now just advisory anyway and we teachers are disposable anyway, pawns in everyone's political games. All is left to the mercy of local school boards. One neighboring district just decided no in-person learning till teachers are fully vaccinated; the other decided they open next week. Our district dithers. 88% of teachers say they won't come back without vaccines. We were "authorized" by the governor to start getting them next Monday and they somehow started in a nearby county last week, but so far no word from district of appointments or sites--presumably there is no vaccine available, like everywhere else. Anyway, cannot join an 8:30 call until I resign or maybe spring break in March. No idea when it is--I can't think more than 24 hours ahead. Edited by Hot Runner 2021-01-22 5:55 PM |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees Dooo Eeeet!!! I have to admit I have fallen off the wagon with the JoGo Challenge. This is crazy but honestly at the end of the day I usually cannot even remember what I have eaten/not eaten! I *think* I am eating more fruits/veggies (if dinner doesn't involve them I have been cutting up some raw veggies to have with ranch or hummus) but just can't keep track! It is that kind of existence right now. I hate to be "that person" who signs up for a challenge and never even record anything, but my brain is just too full of other content right now. There are a couple of relevant Chinese sayings here (I know a lot of them because I teach Chinese): "Live a day, count a day." and "You can only kill the wolf right in front of you." (My all-time favorite, "Dumb as a wooden chicken" probably applies as well!) |

The plan was only two weeks then back in the buildings. However, the Wednesday before they were to go back in the buildings they did a voluntary COVID testing site at the high school for all students and staff in the district. 1 in 20 students tested positive. Most of those were high school followed very closely by the elementary students. They stayed remote until Jan 11 and then we all went back. We were told we were getting vaccinated starting next week. Now they are saying teachers will not get the vaccine until late February/early March here in CO. Kind of cranky about that. |
