X3. No Strava subscription for me. I'm not doing anything remotely related to "training" at this point, so I don't need it. I agree with the others, if you would use the metrics, go for it. But at some point I believe that if you pay for another training tool like Golden Cheetah, MapMyWhatever, TP, or whatever, it would be fiscally prudent to maximize use of that tool before paying for another. Thank you for attending my Ted Talk - Training on the Cheap Thanks for all the input. Right now I only pay for TrainerRoad. But I log all my activities into Strava, and then thanks to Janyne, I have a setup with Fitnesssyncer that carries the data over here to BT. No other services or subscriptions. I think I'll sign on to Strava and see how it goes. It's only $60/year, so not too bad. |
I don’t follow tss or whatever other performance metrics there are, I just try to follow whatever plan I have and hit the pace and distance ( or time) numbers given. If I’m fatigued I rest either by not doing a workout or by easing the intensity . I am always interested in what my pace is or power numbers but beyond that, I let the plan do the heavy lifting on all other metrics! But, like Janyne said, if you don’t have something with those type of features, Strava would be useful. I know that without a structured plan to follow I am very prone to being lazy, so I do need one for accountability.

The outage was fairly local (about 500 households spread along one long, steep street that we live on a cul de sac off of and several blocks to either side). Guessing that there may have been a branch blown loose after a big wind and rain storm blew in from the coast on Monday night. It's not uncommon for them just to hang precariously and then fall suddenly when jostled a bit more, sometimes days later. It's something I'm always aware of after storms, especially when running trails! The power company (or whoever is responsible for the property?) really needs to trim some branches. There are a couple of wooded vacant lots down the hill and tons of tree limbs are growing between the power lines there. It's an accident waiting to happen (and probably one that happened). |

Since Dad passed away we've started a new Christmas tradition of having a salmon instead of a turkey for Christmas, so it went a lot faster! Not sure what happened to the many neighbors who may have already had birds in the oven, planning on early dinners or bigger gatherings where a large turkey was already roasting when the power went out! There were quite a few pleas for and offers of oven space over our local neighborhood site. Our neighbor had a friend coming for dinner and they ended up getting dinner to go from Denny's. What a mess! |

I thought that this would be a tough week for Zooming since our schedules are all a bit wacky. Let's move the conversation to the new thread. That thread is in the "staging area," so there won't be any emails from that one until this one is archived and that one goes "live/public." That's always a bit awkward to me! |
