sdalessio - 2010-02-06 9:53 AM Happy Saturday.  It is still snowing - over 2' so far and counting.  It has picked up again and is supposed to keep snowing until the evening.  Lots of neighborhood activity.  Dominion Power is sitting out front to replaces fuses so our neighbors can get their power back and others are busy snow blowing driveways.  Tony has been shoveling for the past hour or so trying to make a dent in the massive amount of snow.

Stay warm and dry where ever you are.

Make sure Tony logs that 1hr in his logs!!  Stay safe and warm out there. It is nice when others get this weather

you bet I will, 3 hrs logged so far shoveling.
great cross training..

Has anyone tried bikram yoga? I tried it for the first time yesterday and did it ever kick my butt.. It was my first time doing yoga overall and I was completely spent afterwards. It was a 90min class in 105F and during the first 45 min I drank all my water. My HR was all over the place and during some poses I felt dizzy/light headed. At the end my shorts and towel were completely soaked.. It was challenging and fun..

Mornin everyone.

Stanely haven't tried Bikram but I do need to get back into doing yoga.  Its' great for stretching/flexibility.

I think we topped out around 3 feet of snow.  LOL, news stations calling it snowmageddon.  Back is sore from shoveling yesterday.  Sam just went out for her run.  Only place to run is in the road.  At least it's sunny now.

We're supposed to get another snow on Tuesday, maybe 4-6 inches they said.

Anyone have good superbowl plans?  We have a  bunch of food but not sure what we are doing since no one can make it over.

I survived my run.  It was actually kind of fun and very pretty.  I tried running on the main drag but there wasn't enough room for me and stupid drivers who thought a sliver of blacktop means drive normal speed.  Anyway I jumped off to the side streets and got in about 1 1/2hrs in.  Funny though only - 6m w/ all waiting for cars to pass and tiptoeing through the snow banks.

TrevorC - 2010-02-06 10:28 AM quote from cervelo website:
"The 2004 P2K frame did not see any modifications, but its proprietary seatpost was upgraded with a carbon fibre shaft. After testing the carbon flippable seatpost with carbon shaft in the 2003 season with Team CSC, it was rolled out on P3 and P2K frames in 2004, saving approximately 100g (depending on the seatpost length)."

So kind of a silly question I think, but does that mean i can flip around the seatpost which would push the saddle further ahead and closer to the bars, making my aero position that much more comfy??
Hey there, I believe this is the same seatpost as on my Team Soloist, and yes, it's flippable: you can loosen the set screw and turn it around so it's closer to an effective 78 degree seat angle and more conducive to an aero/tri position. It's sort of a pain to reverse back and forth from a road to tri, so if you're going to be doing it a lot, I'd recommend just buying another seat post and swapping the saddle.

I did flip it around, and it made a world of difference. Don't feel like I am stretching to get down into the aerobars now.

Thank you, Suzy!  I was wondering what my official time was, just got home and showered, open up the computer...and see my time posted by you!  No need to check the race site, thanks...

That was actually the time on my Garmin, which read 13.31 miles...must have zig zagged again.  The race went really well, I stayed strong until the end, even with a direct headwind off of the ocean at mile 10 on.  Tough going as this was where I was supposed to change gears to Z4...I waited until mile 11 to do it...it was incredibly awesome to be passing people the final 2.1 miles instead of being passed by everyone last year when I fell apart.

It was a beautifu1, sunny day and this time I remembered to switch to prescription oakley sunglasses instead of wearing my stupid progressive bifocals like I did for the marathon (yeah, I'm hella old)...

I will be enjoying outdoors brunch in awhile with friends and then plan to make a big batch of guacamole for superbowl festivities (high in omega 3's!)

Have a great Superbowl sunday, guys!

Yay for Kim!!! Congrats! I predicted a 1:35 for her... Was only off by a few seconds! That is so smokin'! Enjoy your brunch and your guac!Re: Bikram Yoga -- I did a few sessions a couple of years ago when a local joint offered a 10/$10 deal. I kind-of had a love/hate relationship with it. Definitely good for strength and flexibility. I don't enjoy being hot, so wasn't really keen on that (though it did help loosen up the muscles). Plus I find other's sweat kinda gross and it gets mighty sweaty and stinky in there!! It also did weird things to my metabolism. I did evening classes and it was hard to sleep afterward. Finally, with a :90 class, it was a good two-hour ordeal from door to door, more if you added in the shower after. FOR ME, if I'm gonna spend nearly 2+ hours on a workout, I want to get my heartrate up, which I never felt like I really did. That said, if I had endless funds and hours in the day, I could see doing this on a semi-regular basis. It really is a trip and worth trying, IMO!!So what are everyone's favorite SuperBowl recipes? Since high school my family has always made stroganoff burgers (I make 'em with turkey, or lately buffalo) and calico beans. Last night I whipped up some vanilla ice cream, and I'm gonna make some brownies and hot fudge sauce for a tasty dessert (boo that it's a rest day, but mega-carbs for my long ride tomorrow!). Sadly, our friends with whom we were going to watch are all sick (as I have been), so it's just our little fam. The bonus to that is I don't have to clean house or take a shower today. Congratulations again to speedy Kim!

BREAKTHRU SWIM TODAY...

for my 5 yr old  Jones and I went to the pool today since I bailed on masters and decided to get a quick 1000yd for myself and then spend some time with him.  He has always been a great dog paddler, but never really worked on any kind of real swimming, so I told him if he was going to go to the "real" pool, he would have to let me teach him.

He started out splashing like crazy with his head out of the water, and by the time we left, he was swimming face down with what I would call a very relaxed stroke.  Now we just need to work on the bike.

Off to watch the game.  Go Colts or Saints...really don't have a favorite.

Happy Monday Gang!

Congrats to Kim and Lisa on awesome races!  Looks like you both did greatSmile

Had a good weekend of skiing...no training though.  This week looks to be a good one for the most part.  We may actually get a little snow here in NY which seems to be something different this winter!

Did a swim this morning and planning to run this afternoon at lunch.  Might even get a the trainer tonight if things go well!

I went to look at a Giant Trinity 2 on Friday.  It was size medium.  We did an initial sizing on it and it seemed that it will fit well with some adjustments.  He said I am essentially right between a small and a medium so probably could go with either and be on the edge of adjustment range.  Will likely go ahead and make the purchase...looking foward to getting it out on the road!http://www2.giant-bicycles.com/en-ca/bikes/road/1734/30684/?collections_id=3

Barry, great swim story.  My son's finally put it together at age 10 - my girls look like an octupus having convulsions when swimming.

Tony, I thought the huge sucking sound coming out of east was toned down today.  Now I know why Wink

Lisa, great run.

Last night's game...I can go either way.  I love the Colts, but my fellow Purdue alum put on a clinic.  Tiller, who is named after Brees' old coach (Joe Tiller), did refuse to wear his Brees jersey to school today.  So I guess his loyalty falls first to the team and then the individual, which is good to know.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Mine was somewhat interesting......this is from my blog.

15.97 miles....trying to get 16 under 3 hours...should have paid more attention to where I was running than how fast I was going.  Tripped on a root...reverted to my gymnastics days and tucked for the tuck & roll.....landed on another root shoulder pops out, I tighten up and it goes back in...get up w/ BIG knot on the top of the shoulder joint.....3 hours in the ER = Dislocated A/C joint.  Possibly no running for 3 weeks.  Going to the orthopedist tomorrow and the ER doc talked like he might have to do a surgical reduction on the dislocation.

That's all I got for now as I have some Really Good A$$-Kicking Drugs VERY HIGH QUALITY Pharmaceuticals that I must ingest in order to maintain my sanity.

We Shall See.

Great game last night. Johno must have driven over to Bourbon St after the game, hence his absense this morning.
Being a Pats fan, makes me of course a non-Manning lover.(right?).
There is a guy on ESPN.com that I read all the time from Boston. He talks about the 'Manning Face.' Peyton sure had it after that INT.
What a great win for that city. And being a father-- I think I got a little bit of sand in my eye when Brees had his son i nhis arms and was talking to him with tears in his eyes.. great moment.
