Well, first marathon in the bag.  4:26 unofficial (Garmin) time.  Will post up all the details in my RR, to be completed at a later date.  I promise I won't "George" it...  Thanks to all you MGers hitting me on FB - lots of inspiration out there.

And Kyla, you can tell Shea that I put all my cups and trash in the trash cans, just for her!

Well done Brent! How was that last 10k???

the last 10k?  bro, the air force marathon is a 10k.     ha!

AWESOME JOB BRENT!!!

Awesome job!!!!  Of course, it would have been a 4:25 if you hadn't slowed for all of the trash cans......  Innocent

Brent, What a huge accomplishment!  Congrats.  Is the rr ready yet?  I can't wait to hear all the details.

I had an absolutely great camping weekend helping hubby celebrate his 50th birthday.  Friday night, after setting up our campsite, hubby and I helped the race director place the signs for Saturday morning's trail race.  Saturday morning, hubby had a great 10k run and came in 1 min under his goal time.  I volunteered as sweeper for the 10k course and it was fantastic.  I was able to run easy the entire time, and I got to visit and chat it up with the last two runners.  It was fun to get to know them and to encourage them.  After the race, we went back out and helped take the signs down and collect any trash left on the course.  I was pleasantly surprised that I found NO trash on the 2.5 miles we cleared. In the after noon we hit the mountain bike course and did a 4 mile segment.  This was my first experience with mountain biking, and I have to admit it was FUN.  I realized you do need to use your brakes on the downhills, and rocky spots are difficult.  I need to do this again :-)  Sunday morning I did an ows.  This is the same location of my last race of the season next weekend, so it was nice to get out in the lake.

BEST WEEKEND EVER

After a lot of back and forth, I decided to run this morning's 15K.  I'm glad I did, as it was a good run for me.  I just took it easy and hung in the BOP for the most part, but twelve hours later both feet are still feeling good.  Short and simple RR is here.

Great job at your races, Brent and David!

Jayne, good of you to volunteer as sweeper. I'm glad you had fun and didn't aggravate your knee.

Have a great week, everyone!

Linda, I'm so glad you're ok.  Check back with us tomorrow and let us know how the next day feels.

Doug, Sounds like you're in a good place.  Nice to have you back.

I had a couple thoughts when I was out for my 5:15am run.  Well, I had a lot of thoughts.  Mostly I was thinking how much it sucked.  There were a couple productive and useful thoughts mixed in.

1.  There was a discussion going around last week about cadance, checking in and working to hold it at a certain number--90.  One thing I have done is put songs on my ipod that are 90bpm, that way I can just jog to the music and I'm hitting my targeted cadence.

2.  How do people do LONG runs in the morning?  I got out of bed this morning at 5am, got dressed, drank a little water, and stumbled out the door.  I was afraid to eat and then try to run immediately, but I had ZERO energy.  I've heard stories of Linda doing long marathon training runs before school.  I have to be finished and home to get ready for work at 6:15-6:30am.  Swimming at 5am--no problem.  Running at 5am--HORRIBLE.  How do you do it?

Hi gang - Happy Monday.

Congrats David and Brent!!!!!!

Linda - glad you are ok.  That sounds so scary.  I hope your wheels are ok.

I am really, really thinking about Napa.  I love the area so it's almost a no-brainer.  I also just got invited to do Ragnar Key West.  My 2013 year is already looking good.

Jayne - I run frequently earlier in the AM and I tend to wake up very hungry b/c I eat dinner early.  So I always have to eat before I go and generally do so right before leaving the house.  I would not go to the track or do a hard tempo run right after eating but I find the slow runs are ok.  I just have a very short list of foods that will sit well in my stomach like toast w/ a little bit of pb or an apple w/ a little bit of pb along with a small amount of water.  Like everything it requires some experimenting to see what works for you.

12hrs for a 15k? You may want to incorporate more speedwork into your training! Cool

Ran 4k with my 7 year old tonight.

She came to me on the weekend and said she wanted to run a 5k. I don't think she really knows what a "5K" is. But hears it around the house.  But figured I'd take her out tonight and see if she could do it. Was planning on doing 3k tonight. Figured if she could do that, we'd be good. We're running a fund raiser for Ronald McDonald House @ children's Hospital here.

Sunday morning its go time!!

My friend got some bad jellyfish stings on his arms at Florida last year. Watched his arm swell up on the bike. I'd go with full. (sorry to 2nd guess a done decision!)

John - I can always count on you! Thanks!
David - the last 10K was rough... it's all in the RR.

Speaking of RR, here it is!

So when you read it you'll understand this next topic...
Let's talk cramping leg muscules... prevention and in-race treatment... GO!

I need some help with this one...

Thanks for all the positive energy/comments!  You guys rock!
