I raced an Oly tri yesterday and despite there being only 7 of us in the 35-39 AG I somehow beat them all. I'm really sore today but as everyone on here knows, it's well worth it! Hope everyone else had successful races this past weekend too. I know there were a lot of us out there.

Great job! That's wonderful ))

Originally posted by Hot Runner I would do one long ride that is pretty close to race distance to test new shorts. Doesn't have to be exactly race distance, but I would test them on a ride in the 2:00-2:30 range for HIM, for example. (The actual race time about 2:50 on a good day.) And make sure that most of it, if possible, is approximating race conditions (mostly aero if that's how you'll ride; outdoors and not on the trainer.) If that's okay, you should be good to go. If not, I'd go with more familiar shorts. I've actually had more serious issues with tri suits/shorts on the swim. If the swim is going to be against current in the ocean a river, you need to test it IN THOSE CONDITIONS. Came very close to losing my shorts multiple times in a race in Singapore. They were fine in the pool, but the waist was just not tight enough--repeatedly had to pull the shorts up to prevent being pantsed by the current! I also have a one-piece (my favorite race suit) that seems to fit great but is a flappy mess on the swim--I have to wear a wetsuit or speed suit over it. So definitely test new stuff well before the race, for all disciplines. Okay--do as I say, not as I do. I lost my aero helmet (a donation from my coach--it had seen better days and was due for replacement anyway as the "wings" had cracked at some point in transit) en route to Worlds, bought another one at the expo, and wore it for the first time in the race. But I think it was the same model (maybe an update), only in hot pink instead of boring white. Sadly, I have no decent photos of my color-coordinated hot pink self on the bike, only on the run. I can't load it to my race report for some reason; sticking it here just for fun. Race was a wash-out, but actually the last mile or so I felt really good and this is one of my best tri photos ever--the way I think/wish I look like when I race. Maybe need to see if it's possible just to buy one or two pics--all the others are awful.

Thats a great shot!

Puppies!

I have never heard the word spacko before, but I may borrow it for my work lately too!

Mary G - Kettle Moraine half marathon on Sunday

Good Luck Racers.
Randee- A friend tried to talk me into Barrelman, but back to back HIM's seems like the recipe for injury. I looks like an incredible race, I can't wait to read your reprt.

I've never had a fan anxious for my report!

I will say this - it was HOT. By the time we got to the run the temps were upwards of 88 degrees with a feels like of 92. We all melted and our times were about a half hour off what we were hoping for.

HOWEVER, we had a big group - 12 of us and we always have a good time wherever we go!

I think that race was a one and done though. You'll have to wait for my report

It looks like we may have a racer deficit next weekend (Sept 30-Oct 1). I wanted to give everyone time to step up ;-)

That is because you are racing one of the fabled races here in the North. Kind of the Paul Bunyan or Johnny Appleseed of triathlon.

You travel to a foreign country, Canada. You race at an exotic place, Niagara Falls. It's a long distance triathlon. Maybe this is just a Michigan thing. haha

Hey, Tennessee was exotic for me! I haven't been called "y'all", had grits for breakfast (those actually did go down after the first day of the food-poisoning episode), or experienced fall weather in years.
