GO STACE FACE! Rats, I so wish I were in Perf! Soon, soon.

When are you next in town? Would the keepers of the bike helmets let you do a sprint on December 15th if you have a chaperone? You would have to slow waaaaay down so I could keep up though.

Trust me ... I would be VERY lucky to keep up with you, on that day.

BIG MANATEE CONFESSION TIME

I'm sure you guys will be just shocked.

I'm checking in with our family doc (whom I've exasperated with my whackadoodle shenanigans for over 30 years now!) as well as my shrink in Bali (who is also a neuro, conveniently enough) monthly. Yes, I was cleared to do lots of low-intensity working out. Yes, I was cleared to start adding in high-intensity on Oct 21 (but still no high-risk-of-head-injury activities, which technically should rule out being in a motor vehicle in Bali at all, but I digress).

This month I'll be getting an MRI, which we'll also run by a second neurologist. To be clear, the MRI can't really CLEAR me to be cycling on the road again--but it might reveal some kind of gross morphology which would definitely NIX being in risk-of-head-injury situations.

I'm still hoping to do IMWA on Dec. 8th. It's a huge maybe and probably not, but on the off chance that all three docs are at least neutral on the issue and there's no glaring contraindication, I want to be prepared.

Regardless, I will definitely do the swim.

So, Stace Face, if I'm somewhatvaguelyalmostOK'd to do Busso, then for sure I'd love to do happy fun participatory sprint the weekend after as well.

I thought that you were going to do that and I'm delighted that you are feeling well enough to consider it!

Well, after absolute downpours yesterday (46.6mm rain (1.8inches)), the day dawned cool but beautiful.  I had a great race.  It was, mentally, the best race I have ever run.  Super happy.  I'll wait for official results for RR.  Hope everyone else is having a great day!

Woo hoo!

Morning Pod...

In-laws are gone. Cat is still gone. Son is gone...back to school. I should be gone...on my 7mi run that I put off from yesterday. Hmmm, I see a theme here.

Anywho, I AM going on my run. Then I AM going to write my RR. After that, I AM going to read Podnews.

Happy Monday, Manatees!

Originally posted by nancylee Hi, It seems that I can never lose weight. When I trained for the Olympic tri about 6 years ago, I gained weight. Long slow distances don't help me, but my legs cannot take intervals, etc. Once I did lose weight with spinning, but I had some emotional things going on with my dog rescue, so I don't know if it was the spinning or the emotions. Has anyone tried the Paleo diet? I did the Medifast diet last year, I did lose 8 pounds, which I gained back in 2 minutes. I am post-menopausal, but I know women who are have still lost weight. Any help, greatly appreciated!!! Nancy
I'm struggling, too, so I don't have any suggestions -- I am peri-menopausal -- not officially post-menopausal yet.

But I just wanted to say HI! It's great to see you.

I agree. For my half marathon on Thanksgiving, we could list 13 things we are thankful for. Chocolate was one of those things.

Sometime today I will become a step-grandmother.

I am not ready for that designation. Not at all. ETA (Never mind that my 7 year old will now be "Uncle Jayson"!)

My step-daughter-in-law was induced this morning because of PIH/Pre-eclampsia, so baby boy should be here soon. They won't let her labor too long. So either he's going to pop out on his own, or she'll have a c-section. Last she posted, labor was not progressing very well, which isn't surprising since he's not due for another three+ weeks. She posted this picture last night, and I told her to get to the midwives pronto! LOL

So DH and I did a whirlwind trip to Denver this weekend. The purpose was to get some car parts for DH. I didn't get ANY of my weekend workouts in but I did spend $$$$ on tri gear

We first stopped at Kompetative Edge, a tri store in Denver where I scored a TYR carbon tri top and tri bottom for $25 each!!!!!!!!!!!! Those normally go for $125 each!!!!!!! I also found more Powerbar Perform. Yay!

Then we went to an outdoor mall (killing time before dinner with my Dad) where I went in to William Sonoma (not tri related but I love to cook too) and some other stores. While we were walking along widow shopping I look in to a window and low and behold it's a Skirt Sports store!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCORE!!!!!!!!!! I didn't know those existed! So we went in and I got a running skirt/short and a bike skirt/capri both at 30% off! Good stuff!

We also went in to the Apple store where I looked at the Mophie case to extend the battery life on my iphone. The problem is that with the Mophie case on in won't fit in my  (or any) arm band. So the extended battery life won't help if I can't take it running! I suppose it would be helpful for long rides though.

Oh, and so we were at dinner with my dad (great cajun place btw) and the hostess who is seating us notices my O'side finisher jacket. She then asked me if it was for a REAL Ironman or a shorter one. Ummmm. So I kinda laughed and told her it was a half but that it took me over 7 hours so it felt pretty real to me. DH said I handled it well...

Looking forward to this weekend. I get to see one of my hockey boys AND hopefully get to meet Erin in person!

Scary stuff. Praying for her and the baby (and for your mental health regarding becoming a g'ma).

My niece had pre-eclampsia but the baby was much smaller. It was a scary time but he's a happy healthy 4 year old now.

Ha!  My mom was MORE than ready to be a g'ma, but her counterpart on my SIL's side definitely was NOT and tried to get away with only being called by her first name for a while which got promptly vetoed much to her chagrin.

Sending good vibes to the whole family!!

I have seen feet looking worse with PIH….but yeah she looks like she needs the induction.  Hope she pops out a fairly healthy baby

Ummm yeah, having a 7 year old "uncle" is strange to me.  Many of my old friends that I home schooled with in PA are still having babies or have kids not much older than their oldest grandchild.  I find that strange--but in some circles it is the norm.

Near the end of one of my long runs, I noticed my left hip aching. There was a slight pop with each step. The hip was sore for 2 days after the run.
